Q: Why ACS-5820 can not be used on DirecTV or Dish Network system?
A: ACS-5820 is designed to split the Cable signal so users can watch different channel from different receiving TV. The reason why such split can't use in satellite system is because Cable TV frequency is under 1 Ghz, but the LNB output frequency (satellite system ) is 2Ghz .

Flawless
GEORGE -- mountain top, PA   3/31/2011
Very easy to hook up. Picture and sound are great. Remote works well. TV is in a room upstairs above the transmitter.
AUGUSTUS -- audubon, PA   7/7/2010
The signal for the device works but the remote extender is very tempermental
JOHN N -- fort bragg, NC   4/1/2010
Good product, works as described. The only con I have is the picture is a little snowy when it is hooked up as instructed as a standalone unit from the main tv. However the picture is crystal when hook it up to watch the same program simultaneously with the main tv. If you perfer this option I recommend you get the 2.4ghz and save your money. I chose the snowy picture because I wanted to be able to change the channels without accessing the main tv.
JOHN N -- fort bragg, NC   3/28/2010
This product is exactly what I needed. I live in a house where there is only about 12 inches of craw space therefore I cannot add an extra cable line. By purchasing this device I can do the impossible which is watch tv from my kitchen. I would definately recommend this product for anyone who has a simular issue. My only drawback from this device is the picture quality when chaning the station. The picture is not cripsed when the designated connections are made, however, when you hook it as a single channel TV, meaning you have to watch the same program which is on your main unit, the picture is crystal clear. So with this i had to choose to between being able to change the channel to watch multiple programs without disturbing the main tv program or seeing a clear picture and only seeing one program. I chose to use the option for the station because that is why I bought it. Looking at a snowny screen is the least of my worriers.
FRED -- norridge, IL   1/7/2010
not as easy as i taught it would be to set it up & use it.
Matt S. -- atlanta, GA   1/17/2011
Works great! However, be careful when using with other IR extenders because this unit uses 418 MHz for the IR sending which can interfere with other units on the same frequency. Choose another frequency for your other devices to avoid interference.
Tim -- Florida   2/27/2010
Video works great, however, the remote will not scan and program your channels in order for you to watch two different programs simultaneously. If you can't get a functional one, i recommend you return the product and either get a full refund or scale down to the 2.5 ghz. Remember the main difference of the 5.8 is that it is a standalone device while the 2.4 is not.
