Overview

  • Transmit and receive crisp video and hi-fi stereo, even through walls
  • Long transmission range up to 400 feet clear line-of-sight
  • 5.8GHz band transmission won't have interference from cordless phones or wireless LANs
  • Add extra rooms with an additional receiver

Essential Info

If you always wanted to distribute A/V components to a second room but have avoided doing so because of the cost and difficulties surrounding running cables, the easy answer has arrived. The 5.8GHz Wireless A/V Sender with I/R Extender transmits clear A/V signals over radio frequency (RF), so there are no wires to run, and since this is the first ever 5.8GHz-band product of its kind, you'll avoid the interference associated with crowded lower-frequency band applications, such as 802.11b wireless LAN, cordless phones, and microwaves. You'll even be able to control your components using your existing remote, since the 5.8GHz Wireless A/V Sender includes an IR extender, transmitting your signals to the receiver in the room with your components.

The 5.8GHz Wireless A/V Sender with I/R Extender consists of one transmitter and one receiver. This system transmits vivid video and hi-fi stereo sound wirelessly from a VCR, TV set, DVD player, satellite receiver, or cable set-top box to any TV or monitor. It can also be used in conjunction with a camcorder or CCD camera to turn into a wireless security monitoring system. The signal can go up to 400 feet with clear line of sight, and since it uses radio waves, it will even penetrate walls.

To experience wireless video and audio, just connect the transmitter to whatever A/V source you would like to enjoy and connect the receiver to a TV, monitor or speaker in another location. All power supplies and connecting cords are included. Directional antennas minimize multi-path and interference.

I got the RF link part of the device to work after making a couple of silly mistakes. Little tricky getting a good signal, but managed to get channel 4 to do OK. Simply could not get the IR extender part to work. Finally replaced it with an existing X-10 "Powermid" extender that I already had. So I'd give the product a B+ I think. It does let me send signal over from a cable box to a remote TV so I can use the cable guide information and On Demand, which is what I needed to do.

On time, great condition, and works great.
    CORTNEY -- washington, DC   12/19/2013
This functions well. The signal is crystal clear, but sometimes we have to push the button on the remote twice to get a reaction. The unit is also a little too bulky to tuck away behind the TV easily. But overall, I'm very happy with this purchase.
    BENJAMIN -- asheville, NC   12/15/2013
Product was as described - Watching it now. Turns cable box on and off and changes channels remotely. Delivery was quicker than estimated.
JEFF -- harker heights, TX   10/24/2013
Works as advertised. Using this on my outdoor kitchen to watch sports and works good.
    JEAN-JACQUES -- rosemere, QC   8/29/2013

These units work great!!! Massive range- from my basement to the top floor no problem. I would highly recommend if you can't run wires through walls!!

    Great Image and sound
    PAULA -- lamy, NM   3/10/2012
This product works great. We were replacing a 2.5mHz unit that seemed to have a static problem. Changing to 5.8 mHz completely solved our problem with the added benefit of better color on the TV. I'm going to purchase another soon to replace the other 2.5 mHz we have that still has the static.
    BRET -- vista, CA   1/29/2012
Currently I am just using these to tranmit/receive audio throughout my house and they work great. I can listen to audio in every room in the house now (with additional receivers I purchased) and even in my garage. I am very happy with the audio quality and the product in general.
JEFFREY -- sun prairie, WI   1/24/2012
    Works as advertised
    CYNTHIA A -- tempe, AZ   1/6/2012
GREAT SERVICE. IT WAS HERE TWO DAYS AFTER I ORDERED IT!
    blake -- temecula   1/2/2011
works great on the wi 25 ft away. Dial in the sweet spot directional had a slight little interferience with my friends dancing in front of it but works very well. Haven't tried it on the 2nd story yet. Smarthome good job delivery and cust service.
    BARRY -- eatonton, GA   12/19/2010
this is my third set of the Extender as I have them all over the house including the garage. Great product. It is important you do NOT also use a 5.8 GHz phone while using the extender.
    SCOTT -- holland, OH   7/22/2010
Lots of interference. Everytime I would walk past the unit, I would get nothing but loud static on the tv. Would not recommend. Went back to using my Terk transmitter (may get interferenc from the microwave, but at least I get a good signal)
DAVID -- fort wayne, IN   5/28/2010
The one additional feature I would like to see is a VHF Channel 3/4 RF output. I am very pleased with the quality of the video and sound as produced by the receiver. The IR Extender works flawlessly. My compliments to RF Link on a fine product.
    JOHN -- ogden, UT   5/26/2010
This replaced my old LeapFrog 2.4 GHz sender, which was suffering from interference from my wireless LAN and microwave oven. This works perfectly with my satellite dish with no interference.
    ROBERT -- albuquerque, NM   2/11/2010
The audio/video portion of this unit is adequate, although its stated range is far short of that being advertised. The IR control link is virtually useless at any reasonable distance. The IR control link begins to get very noisy at about 15 feet between the transmitter and receiver. Two receivers tuned to the same video channel (1 thru 4) also collide in the common IR control channel making it impossible to control anything. No amount of UHF antenna orientation can overcome the noise beyond 15 feet spacing.
