Velleman's VWS2 is a two channel Video Web Server (VWS) designed for use with most all CCTV products. This device was designed to allow multiple users the ability to simultaneously monitor and control their CCTV system from anywhere in the world. No PC will be needed for this function because the VWS2 will have its own IP address on your Local Area Network (LAN). The VWS2 will be connected to the internet via an Ethernet cable going into your router which Velleman has included with this device. Any two video sources can be connected to the Video Web Server. These two sources can be viewed and recorded at the same time. This systems exceptional resolution and ability to adjust various video quality levels gives the users means to set video output levels to their liking. Images stored are compressed into JPEG files. Also featured on this VWS2 is an alarm input which can be used to trigger your existing security system, or trigger lighting and appliances in your home automation system through a low voltage, contact closure, interface. Actions triggered by the VWS2 will be predefined by the user, with the included software. Although the software package included is extensive, it is no reason to feel intimidated by the installation process. Step-by-step instructions along with the incredibly user-friendly Graphical User Interface (GUI) make the system set-up perfect for "DIY's."

If an internet connection is not available where you intend to locate the VWS2, you will still be able to use this device for remote control and video storage through a PC or laptop notebook computer. An Integrated Service Digital Network (ISDN) connection can not be used with this system, an Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) or cable modem is the only way to connect the VWS2. Routers which do not use ISDN, RJ-45, and port forwarding as a primary function, but support these functions can be used with the VWS2. The frame rate, to which you can expect, will be dependent upon bandwidth and average image size. Formulas and examples of how to calculate the frame rate can be found inside the user's manual.
