This surveillance camera can capture clear images up to 50 feet away in complete darkness (0 Lux), thanks to the 26 built-in IR LEDs. You'll see clear color images by day, and at night the camera automatically switches to an IR-sensitive black & white mode. Unlike most other surveillance cameras that require the purchase of extension cables, which often don't allow the IR to work, this camera comes with 100 feet of power and video cabling for easy placement in and around your home. Additionally it has an IP67 weatherproof rating making it perfect for indoor and outdoor applications.

Understanding Picture Features
Clarity of the picture at night may be the difference between capturing a criminal and having that criminal remain on the loose. There are three main factors affecting how clear the picture will be, these include lux, resolution, and lens. Lux rating is the amount of minimum illumination that a camera can have and still pick up an image, 0 being the lowest, or no light. So the closer the lux rating is to 0, the better the camera will operate in no light or low light situations. Resolution is the amount of horizontal TV lines that make up a picture, so the higher the number of the resolution, the better clarity your picture will have. Note that the monitor or recording device you use must have a resolution equal to or greater than the resolution of the camera, as it will do you no good to have a camera that can output in 540 lines of resolution but have a monitor or recording devices that only picks up images at 300 lines of resolution. The lens will determine the field of view and the distance at which the camera will be able to accurately see an object. Lenses come in all sizes, the greater the size of the lens, the better the field of view and distance will be. A fixed focal lens will have a set parameter, however, by selecting a varifocal lens (at a greater cost) you can make adjustments by zooming in or out to the field of view and distance required.
Ingress Protection Rating
Ingress Protection (IP) is rating for electronic products as it relates to the amount of sealing they have against the entry of solid and liquid objects. Complete details of this standard can be obtained from the IEC. This uniform and widely acknowledged classification system provides equipment designers and specifying agents with a convenient and reliable method of comparing relative levels of sealing between competing (connector) products. In its simplest form, the classification system consists of the letters "IP" followed by two separate digits, which denote increasingly greater sealing from solid objects and from water.
The Indoor/Outdoor, Day/Night Color IR Camera with 26 LED's & 100 Foot Video Cable has a rating of IP67. The number '6' refers to the degree of protection against access to hazardous parts and ingress of solid objects, 6 is the highest rating at "dust tight; complete protection against contact". The number '7' refers to the degree of protection against the ingress of water, 7 is the next to highest level "Ingress of water in harmful quantity shall not be possible when the enclosure is immersed in water under defined conditions of pressure and time (up to 1 meter of submersion)."
