Night vision is great - if something moves in our warehouse after hours, we know about it! We use it with INSTEON apps, HouseLinc, tinyCam Monitor PRO and many other apps - and it works great.

What Goes Bump in the Night?
Whether you're worried about what animals have decided to occupy your yard in the evening or are concerned more about the two-legged variety trying to enter your home, the INSTEON Wireless Security IP Camera has you covered. The camera features 11 infrared LEDs that can provide 8 meters (26 feet) of visibility in absolute darkness. It transmits high quality video images at 30 frames per second on your local or wireless network by using MJPEG hardware compression technology. You can also receive digital images via email when motion has been detected at a resolution of 640 x 480 (300k Pixels).

    User Interface
The camera features an easy to use graphical interface that is accessible from any standard browser anywhere in the world over the Internet. It has password protection as well as the ability for multiple users to view and control up to 9 cameras at one time. The camera is based on the TCP/IP standard and the control, management and maintenance of the camera is done simply by using your web browser to adjust the configurations.

    INSTEON Hub Compatibility
Why settle for just camera control when you can also control the lights, adjust temperature and more all from your smartphone? The INSTEON Hub makes it possible to view a live camera feed of your home, adjust the lights, set temperature and set motion and leak sensor alerts - making your very own monitoring system - all with no monthly fees. The INSTEON for Hub app provides setup video instructions and automatically configures your router for remote access and control.

    HouseLinc Compatibility
HouseLinc home control software also makes configuring the INSTEON Wireless Security IP Camera as easy as a few mouse clicks. With HouseLinc, you can include IP camera images as part of a triggered or conditional event.
Here are just a few of the exciting ways pairing the INSTEON Wireless Security IP Camera with HouseLinc can give you added convenience and peace of mind:
    • At work or planning on being away from home? Set up an event that includes an INSTEON Motion Sensor and INSTEON Wireless Security IP Camera by your front door. When motion is detected, the sensor can turn on a lamp and the camera will automatically send an email with a photo so you know who is at the door.
    • Do all of your employees show up for work on time? Keep track of your employees' punctuality with a timed event that has INSTEON Wireless Security IP Camera email you a photo of your workplace at 9 a.m. every day.
    • Who opened the door or window? Link a Open/Close Door Window Sensor to a INSTEON Wireless Security IP Camera to email a photo every time a door, window or gate is opened.
    • Who is coming and going in your garage? Use the I/O Linc - INSTEON Garage Door Control & Status Kit with the INSTEON Wireless Security IP Camera to not only be alerted that your garage door has been opened or closed, but to also trigger an email with a photo of your garage interior.
9dbi Wi-Fi Antenna While the camera does include a Wi-Fi Antenna (3dbi) that will deliver an exceptional, clear video signal, this 9dbi Wi-Fi Antenna (sold separately) antenna will allow you to receive that same great video signal from greater distances. Optionally, you can use this antenna to increase the signal reliability of your wireless camera for added piece of mind. The base connector of the antenna simply screws on to the camera antenna receptacle, and will pivot and rotate into your desired position to receive the optimal signal from the camera.

This is my third review comment on this product. Another positive review, this time regarding opening the camera to viewing from outside my local WiFi network. It was not easy so here is some information that may help. I have this IP Camera, and a Netgear Router. To be seen from the outside world, the camera has to be assigned a static does not change ip address and a port to look into port forwarding. There are two ways to do this. The easiest is to scan the attached devices using Netgear Geni, and then to RESERVE an address for the camera. The Geni software has that option under Advanced Setup, LAN setup, bottom of the screen, Add reserved address. However, that does complicate and confuse the use of the Foscam software that manages the camera. The other way to set up a static IP address is to do so, outside the scope of those addresses reserved for DHCP. If you are getting lost, go to You Tube and search for Eli the Computer Guy. He has a channel and you can watch VERY clear video tutorials on understanding and setting up routers. OK, so I used the RESERVE option in Geni. Here is what you have to do in the Focscam IP Camera Tool. Under Basic Network Settings, do not try to assign a static IP address that is within the scope of the DHCP addresses in your router. If you do, you will get an error, bad parameters, and it will not accept what you put in even if all the numbers are correct. Here is all you have to do. Keep DHCP checked and assign the camera a unique PORT. I chose 801 as it was unused. SUBMIT that change. Now, understand, that to address your camera you will have to enter the ip address as xx.xx.xx.xx:PORT, which in my case was You did not have to add that port number when the port was 80, as that is the default port number for HTTP pages. Now that the camera has its own port, you have to use it with the ip. Now, go to the router, in my case Netgear Geni, and look for Port Forwarding under Advanced Setup. Click on Add Custom Service. Provide a name. Call it whatever you like. Mine was called KitchenCam. Supply the starting and ending port. In the case of the camera use the same number for both. In my case 801. You can either type in the IP address of the camera, or select it from the list of attached devices. When you have filed in the form, click on Apply. That's all there is to it. Now, to see your camera from outside your local network. You need only supply your CABLE MODEM ip address followed by the port number, in this format. xx.xx.xx.xx:port How do you get the ip address from the outside world of your router? In Genie, click on Setup, then Internet setup. You'll see a set of three IP numbers one is IP address. That's your external ip address for your house. Be aware, that IP can change, so if everything stops working, get on your router and check that number before wasting time on other trouble shooting. That ip address i

So, I have to retract most of what I said to the negative in an earlier review. Yes, Tech Support was impossible to reach by phone, but it turns out, easy to reach by chat. The guy, JT, was very helpful and we got the camera working. There were problems so read on and this might help you out. The IP Camera Tool did not show the camera or time out as it is supposed to. The manual should tell you to scan your network, find the IP of the camera, and then launch the local page in your browser by typing the IP address, but it does not mention that. JT suggested it and that got me into the camera page where I was able to set up the Wi-Fi and can change name and password, etc. You really don't need the IP Camera Tool if you know how to log into your router, scan the network, and pick the IP of the camera it will be a wired connection initially, then type that into a browser. Next problem, when I disconnected the cable, the camera did not appear on the Wi-Fi network. Tried it multiple times. No camera. Now it turns out that I have been working with another device Arduino and WiFly shield that is supposed to host a local web page, and getting nowhere at that point. Now that I had two devices choking on the same phase of operation, I figured it had to be a router setting. There is no setting in the router to block local hosts port 80 default web pages so I figured perhaps the router had gone bad. Went to Staples, purchased the latest router, installed it, went through setup again and Yipee, the camera appeared on the Wi-Fi scan list. It is important for you to know how to log into your router and scan the network for attached devices. Why? Because the router will give your camera a different IP address as a Wi-Fi device than it had as a wired device. You need the IP address to use the web page tool. The web page tool has a nice interface to the camera that you can use to monitor the camera from anywhere in range of your wireless network. JT also recommended a great iPhone app called Live Cams Pro, $4.95. Just supply the ip, the username and password, name the camera and you'll be watching video on your phone. Mine came with a working microphone so I can hear what is going on as well. Next big step is to learn how to configure the camera and router so I can access my cameras when away from the home network. This will be my first product to attempt that with and I'm hoping I can reach JT again if I have questions. My criticism of the documentation remains. There is no mention of the solution JT offered, there is no mention of the IP address changing when you switch from wired to Wi-Fi, and many of the illustrations and screen shots are from a version of software long prior to the one shipping. If the IP Camera Tool which does the scanning for you does not run, as it would not on any machine I own, then you have to know all this other stuff. What they give for trouble shooting tips is just useless. For poor doc

Complete waste of time and money. IP Camera Tool does not perform as user's manual claims. Does not find camera and does not give message as specified. Checked all router settings. Router sees camera ip and mac address as a wired device. Firewall OFF, DCHP on. IP Camera Tool just sits there with a blank screen. Don't try calling tech support unless you have unlimited talk minutes, cause you will be listening to a lot of senseless recorded messages while on hold; FOREVER. Never could get through. Not sure what REFURBISHED means, but it does not mean it will arrive in working order. Unlike other Smarthome products, this one is junk.
    DALE -- framingham, MA   2/3/2014
This is my second Smarthome IP camera. I am pleased with both.
    BRAD -- charlotte, VT   1/29/2014
Now that it's setup I love it but it was challenging to get it going.
