Many people today have some form of hearing impairment, which can prove dangerous if there's a fire in your home. If you don't hear the smoke alarm go off, you may not awaken in time to escape. This device is not a smoke alarm itself, but instead "listens" for the sound of your existing smoke alarms. When it hears that sound, it employs 3 technologies to awaken you: a bed shaker to vibrate your bed, a flashing light, and a very low-frequency sound that can be felt as well as heard. Your smoke alarms must emit the UL approved T-3 alarm pattern: 3 quick beeps, pause, 3 quick beeps, pause, etc. Test the SafeAwake using your smoke alarms after installation. Powered by a 120VAC adapter (included) and three CR123 Lithium batteries as back-up power.
