I choose this devise because of the stated power draw in standby mode of 1mA which was acceptable for my battery application. After receiving the unit I measured a standby current of 34mA and an alarm current of 7mA. SmartHome was good about sending out another unit but it still had the same power draw. After talking with the mfg. they finally agreed the specifications were wrong and observed the same readings I was getting, except they didn’t really know what standby mode was. Obviously they don’t know what their device draws or how people are supposed to use it. If you have the available power this device will work but forget about it in a battery application.
