Essential Info
The EW8310 Early Warning Electromagnetic Lock from RCI gives you the opportunity to stop break-ins before they occur with its early warning system. The early warning means you will be provided with an extra layer of security by receiving advanced notice of the break-in. The lock has a built-in micro-switch sensor that can detect a potential break-in when 55 lbs of pressure or more have been applied to the door. When a potential break-in has been detected the Early Warning Electromagnetic Lock will activate a local and/or remote alarm before the door has been forced open. The lock itself also has a highly visible light panel that indicates the status of the door by displaying either a red or green light. This lock works similarly to a theft deterrent on a car. The RCI EW8310 will act as your personal security guard.

Nuisance Delay
This is a feature that is designed to prevent accidental triggering. If the door is pulled with less than 55 lbs of force the status light indicator will change from green to red. If the pressure is withdrawn within 4 seconds then it will not trigger the local alarm relay and the system will return to normal.
30 Second Alarm Period
If pressure is maintained on the door for more than 4 seconds, the remote alarm relay will activate and the local alarm relay will remain on and the light panel will continue to flash red. After 30 seconds the remote and local alarm relay will return to normal but the light panel will carry on blinking red signaling an attempted break-in has occurred until it is reset.
Light Panel
This is a highly visible red and green status indicator. Green signaling everything is ok and red signaling that an attempted break-in has occurred.
Supplementary Sounder
An external alarm device can be connected and set to pulse during the 4 second nuisance period and then set to a steady ring during the 30 second remote alarm period.
It is recommended that the Early Warning Electromagnetic Lock be inspected and maintained on a quarterly basis to ensure proper performance. It is important to keep contaminating materials away from the surfaces of the electromagnetic lock and armature plate. You should clean the surfaces periodically with a non-abrasive cleaner.
