We are really liking these units - bright - long lasting charde and great sensitivity!

WORKS GREAT AND EASY TO INSTALL.

we were shock at how great the light worked. the only draw back is the unit is not water proof and for an outdoor light I would have thought that was automatic... however my husband is very handy and built a covered platform.

A misleading product: This page says Water and weather resistant but the instructions say Be sure it is installed under eaves as it is not weather proof or it is covered by some thing to prevent from spraying. What good is a solar light that can't take being in the rain! This page also claims the product is made from cast aluminum. What they mean is only the lamp housing is. The solar panel and the motion detector are plastic. So the part that's in the sun and will fade is plastic, but the part that's aluminum must be mounted under the eaves where it will get less sun...does this make sense? One last gripe. There's a mounting stake for the solar panel, but not for the light fixture, so it needs to be mounted to something. Another reason it can't go along a garden path where I had intended to use it. I haven't actually used this product yet. I haven't decided if I'll return it or find another use for it. So, in spite of the misleading claims, it may be a good product if used appropriately.

Purchased this item based on the what makes this product different information. What is written is true! I am in the process of replacing four cheap, white plastic solar lights that I've only owned for a few years that have not been exposed to a harsh climate I live in Arizona. All my prior lights have died they make an awful hum when they die which will scare your family if it happens at night...which it did to mine. On to the Smarthome light. I have purchased one and will purchase more once they are back in stock. The product itself installs and works just like other solar lights, however this one has some meat to it, as it is aluminum. You can feel the weight difference. My white lights did indeed start to yellow, so their statement is true. I have no way of knowing if the black finish on these lights will fade over time, so the jury is out. The leds are fairly bright - not spotlight bright - but bright when focused on an object mine light up our garbage cans on the side of the house. It seems brighter than the other lights I am replacing, but would need to do a side my side comparison to really know. They are whiter - that is certain.

This product helped me to solve a situation by illuminating an area where was hard to bring electricity. The components are made of excellent quality and works awesome! The installation took me about one hour or less and was very easy to connect. The value of this product was very, very good for the price. Once it is installed, it don't need any maintenance, besides the periodic solar cell panel cleaning. Its a no-brainer!!!

The device seems to be as advertised. The plastic mounting bracket for the solar panel looks like it may be a problem. It is rather flimsy and only has 2 small mounting holes. It looks as though the first time there is a strong wind the solar panel will break off.
