Essential Info

The Visonic MCT-501 is a fully supervised digital glass-break wireless detector compatible with PowerMax and other Visonic PowerCode wireless security systems. It is designed for a wide range of residential and commercial applications where reliable glass-break detection is required. The MCT-501 employs an advanced patented acoustic pattern recognition technology that can reliably distinguish between true alarms and false alarms. It provides 360° detection range of up to 6 meters (20 feet) and can detect breaking of different types of glass including plate, tampered, laminated and wired.

When glass breaking is detected, the MCT-501 transmits an alarm using a PowerCode transmission sequence of a 24-bit ID command code, which is selected from 16 million possible combinations, and is therefore unique and virtually impossible to accidentally reproduce. A smart anti-collision algorithm prevents signal jamming by simultaneous transmission from multiple devices. The MCT-501 transmits supervisory reports, including battery condition, to the wireless control panel or receiver at regular intervals - ensuring system integrity and functionality at all times.

No complaints. Put in the battery, enrolled the unit and it was ready to go! Thanks!
    ANDREY -- redmond, WA   5/23/2012
    works the way it should
    WILLIAM -- burnsville, MN   11/18/2011
Installed easy, setup simple, and tests show it working, but I've never had a broken window to test it with.
    ANDRES -- bogota, XX   1/11/2011
I dont really know how to test it in easy way, i tried to play glass break sounds but did not activated, an especial gatget must to use it.
KARL -- san francisco, CA   9/8/2010
Seems to work. Banged pots and glass and it responded...didn't try to break a window.
    Paul -- Indiana   7/13/2010
We've had more than 10 false alarms since we installed 2 of these 6-8 months ago. I'd rather have false alarms than have a real glass break and not have it go off. Here are some of things which have caused false alarms: #1. screaming/squealing of toddlers #2. Loudly tapping a spoon on a mixing bowl #3. Emptying a trash can that includes glass bottles or jars #4. Flat object hitting nearby wall #5. Toddler dropping flat wood toy on metal heat register We have not had any window glass actually broken in the house, but I'm guessing it would set it off.

On Christmas morning 2007, my daughter received a doll she always wanted and screamed a very high pitched squeal, setting off the glass break alarm. Fortunately, it was the only test of this device I've ever had, and it worked! It is a little bulky.
JAY -- high springs, FL   6/12/2009
Hand-clap test worked, enrolled in the system fine. Somewhat expensive, but well worth the price if they do as advertised.
    JAMES -- elbert, CO   12/22/2008
Fairly easy to set up. Bit larger than I would have liked. Main issue with this is that there is no way to see if it is working. There is supposedly a tester that the pros use, I'm looking into it.
    FRANCIS J. -- brooklyn, NY   12/24/2005
    Very Well Performed
    CHARLES H. -- chambersburg, PA   8/31/2005

Hooked up to Powermax system with no problems.
    PAOLO H. -- las vegas, NV   3/19/2004
