Easy to Program and Control Securely
Programming the SecureLinc panel is easy, using the large, backlit buttons and the LCD screen. You can also mount a Wireless 2-Way Keypad by any entry to your home where it will communicate your commands acting as a remote panel controller. The wireless keypad receives status reports from the SecureLinc panel, so you'll know at a glance what the status of the system is as well as if any events occurred while you were out. Transmit signals to your Smarthome SecureLinc Wireless Home Security System using a keyfob transmitter. A keyfob transmitter allows you to arm your panel in home or away mode, disarm your panel or transmit an X10 lighting command. Upon pressing any of the four recessed buttons, the keyfob transmits a CodeSecure™ digital sequence along with a 4-bit function code associated with the button that was pressed. Different digital sequences are transmitted each time, so that malicious code grabbing is almost impossible.
    Includes Pet Immune Motion Sensors
Pet immune motion sensors are included in this kit which mean that the system will not be triggered falsely when your cat or dog walks across the protected room. Due to their smaller profile, pets can be ignored by the pet immune motion sensors preventing a false alarm. With a coverage area of 30 by 30 feet, these fully supervised detectors will keep an eye on your home when you're not around.

Built in Siren and Phone Dialer
When it detects an alarm signal from one of the wireless sensors, the alarm system blasts an 85dB siren that not only alerts your family, but also sends would-be thieves fleeing. In addition, you can program it to call any private phone number (i.e.: a friend or neighbor, your office, your wireless phone, etc.) and play a pre-recorded message in your own voice if connected to your standard telephone or to a cellular network (via the GSM Modem for Web-Enabled Security Kits). It doesn't even need its own dedicated phone line! It also supports 24-hour monitoring by commercial alarm monitoring personnel, who can dispatch police, fire or medical response (depending on the type of alert it receives). It can even call you for non-alarm events. For example, want to know that your kids arrived home safely from school? The security system can call you at the office to let you know that your child successfully disarmed the alarm.

Individual User Codes and Message Center
The SecureLinc Wireless Home Security System supports up to 8 individual user codes, so each member of your household can have an independent code ID. It also doubles as a message center, so you can hear and leave messages up to 20 seconds for other family members. User names for codes 5-8 can be recorded and will be played during a Latchkey report.

Internet Connectivity Via an Optional Powerlink
Connect your SecureLinc to the PowerLink (sold separately) for remote control of your security system from any Internet-connected computer in the world. The PowerLink also allows remote or on-site visual surveillance, connecting to up to four wired or wireless cameras (each sold separately). The PowerLink can also be purchased with a single wired or wireless camera as a kit.

    Lighting Control via X10
For maximum convenience, Smarthome SecureLinc Wireless Home Security System can even operate 15 X10-controlled lights or appliances (or 15 groups of lights or appliances), including 2-way appliances and those with dim/bright features. In addition to scheduling your X10 appliances to prepare your home for your arrival at night or from a vacation, you can also use the X10 timer function to make your home look occupied when you're away. Or you can have it turn the X10-controlled porch light on for four minutes when you arm or disarm the system, so that you'll never have to enter or leave your house in the dark. Note: To access these features, you'll need the optional X10 Cable & Interface, sold separately.

In addition to this Smarthome SecureLinc Web-Enabled Home Security System for the Elderly, Smarthome's best-selling security system is available in two similar kits: The Smarthome SecureLinc Remote-Access Wireless Home Security System and the Smarthome SecureLinc Web-Enabled Home Security System for the Elderly.

NOTE: It's important to understand that while "Voice Over IP" can work with a home alarm system, we do not recommend it. If for any reason you lose your Internet connectivity - due to a power outage or problem with your Internet service provider, for example - "Voice Over IP" will not work, and your alarm system will not be able to make an emergency call if it's triggered. For this reason we recommend you keep a basic traditional landline dedicated to your home alarm system and use "Voice Over IP" for the rest of your calling needs.

door and window contacts should come with spacers to make up the difference in space between door and trim around door so contacts match up. also contacts should come with double side tape so you don,t have to screw into an expensive door or window. also to have to put bare wires underneath screws to secure to unit makes the average home owner leery, just put conectors on the ends
    DARRYL -- huntertown, IN   12/8/2010
overall am very pleased with system. A little overhelming and time comsuming to activate/install and understanding directions for all the many features. Customer service was easy, friendly, and SPOKE ENGLISH PERFECTLY - THANK YOU!
    JUSTIN -- ronkonkoma, NY   10/26/2010
Setup is fairly simple. My only gripe is that it doesn't fit in with the Insteon network. I have installed the X-10 add on and it will turn our lights on when we disarm it and off when we arm it but it would be nice if the insteon controller I have could talk to it. The window sensors are pain to mount on vinyl windows especially if you have blinds.
    KENT -- woodbridge, CT   6/27/2010
Excellent system! Easy to install components and the programming isn't bad. The video on the SmartHome page is very helpful to get started quickly! Though I think that the last part about recording the custom alarm message is inaccurate - those steps let you record a message for someone else to listen to later in your house. However, using the steps in the manual you are able to record your own voice to say the address of your house when it calls out. It is very easy to add additional sensors and components (like additional keypads, external sirens, etc.) The pet-friendly motion sensors are great! We have two cats and they have never set off a false alarm. The included keychains are great and the "zone name" chime is nice too just so that when you answer the door someone hears you have an alarm system. Would recommend this to anyone who likes to do things themselves and save a bundle in the process. An included card from SmartHome offered monitoring for about $9 per month, which would easily be covered by the discount most insurance companies will give you for having a monitored system.
DOUGLAS -- sterling heights, MI   6/14/2010
Works very well, easy to install. Has many options for a low cost system. I would reccomend this system to anyone willing to read the programming instructions. This is not a unit you just take out of the box, install & read the instructions later.
    CY -- loveland, CO   5/16/2010
Nice system for a good price. The instructions are difficult to get through, but the product itself is great.
    ERIC -- dubuque, IA   4/11/2010
More of a pain to install than suggested, as everyone else has said. If I were to do another one now it would go pretty smoothly. I found the instructions pretty decent and easy to follow. The only thing that was missing was a disclaimer of a requirement of an analog phone line. Tried hooking it up in a business and the call-out feature wasn't working. It was only after quite a bit of trial and error that I thought to try an analog fax line and it finally worked. Will have to get a dedicated analog extension hooked up for it.
    MIKE -- gilbert, AZ   3/13/2010
Set-up of the main control panel was no problem. The instruction manual, with all it's menu flow charts really made things easy. My low rating stems from the fact that this system still, after 3 weeks, isn't working correctly. The range on all the wireless sensors is less than 20 feet, which renders the system worthless. I believe the issue is with the receiver in the main control panel, and not the transmitters (i.e. ALL the sensors have unusable range). I have yet to call technical support, so I can't complain too much yet. Probably just got a "lemon."
    SCOTT -- troy, MO   3/4/2010
Easy to set up and easy to install! Additional external port would be handy.
    HUGO -- mexico d.f, XX   2/23/2010
    Good product
    ROBERT J -- gardner, KS   1/15/2010
the system works very well! It was a little difficult to set up but very doable.
    JULIE -- honolulu, HI   1/11/2010
The system appears to work well and I am happy with it. It was REALLY tough to program though and without the help of a friend who has the system as well, I would have been unable to program myself. As it was, it took us 5 hours to install, with most of the time in programming.
    THOMAS -- carlisle, MA   1/5/2010
The system appears ok, but it would be much MUCH better if one could access it remotely from the internet...there should be a tie into the INSTEON system.
    MONTE -- bakersfield, CA   12/26/2009
between the video and the instructions the instalation was simple. not easy, but simple. took a few hours to set up, but so far so good. seems to be working corectly after a few tests. don't forget to buy a sign for the front yard like i did though.
    ANDREW -- amelia, OH   12/18/2009
pretty easy to install on your own
FORREST -- commerce city, CO   12/11/2009
They are right its not easy to install.
    PETE -- cordova, TN   11/23/2009
Great system - lots of great features, which makes it a little tricky for a non-professional to program, but with a little patience I got it installed perfectly.
ROBERTO -- union city, CA   9/10/2009
This is a great product. I did extensive comparison against ADT and other (big company name alarm system and offerings) and I think this alarm offers the best bang for the buck. I had three basic requirements. 1) I did not want to pay monthly fees for monitoring services, 2) I wanted to access my alarm system remotely using my internet connection or mobile devices 3) I wanted the system to notify me by phone or e-mail when the alarm went off. None of the big name brands offered this (They did to some extent but they wanted to charge me extra fees). The installation took me about 45 minutes to an hour. The instructional video was perfect. There were a couple of simple things that were missing in the video but I was able to find what I was looking for in the manuals. Overall easy to install (I'm still playing around with some of the advace options but it is a working system now). NOTE: I have not used the internet connection yet so I cannot comment on that. I have not access the system remotely yet. I need to buy a separate part which cost $350. I'm still evaluating this alarm system so I did not want to spend the extra money until I'm sure that this is what I want. Looks like it is so I may buy the other parts for remote access soon.
    EUGENE -- henderson, NC   8/20/2009
Easy to install & set-up the system & wireless devices. Works great with Alarm Relay monitering service.
    DAN -- friendswood, TX   8/9/2009
Installation of actual equipment was easy. However, the programming instructions and books are terrible. They leave way too much untold and left for programmer to figure out. Coming from a smart mechanical person, I find it impossible to see how anyone could program this in 1 hour as advertised with no knowledge of the system. After several weeks, we are still struggling with programming nuances that make the unit very ineffective. In hindsight, I would not recommend this system to anyone as Smarthome does not have any recommendations for outside programmers to hire for service to get optimum features enabled and working.
