Essential Info
Almost everyone knows or has heard of someone who experienced a kitchen fire due to someone forgetting that a pot or pan was still on the burner. But now you can put that fear to rest with Stove Guard, an easy-to-install safety system that shuts off your electric stove when left unattended for too long. It's the perfect solution for anyone with a busy schedule who's easily distracted and may inadvertently leave the stovetop burning. Uses State-of-the-Art Motion-Sensing TechnologyHow does it work? Stove Guard features state-of-the-art motion sensing technology that allows the unit to detect when you're in the kitchen. So if the stove is turned on and you leave the kitchen, Stove Guard's internal timer starts running. After the pre-determined amount of time passes (user adjustable from 1-99 minutes), and you haven't returned to the stove, Stove Guard will shut off your stove. If you return to the kitchen before the programmed time expires, the unit's internal processor will reset the timer no manual resetting of the timer is required! Easy, Do-It-Yourself InstallationStove Guard is easy enough for anyone to install - no professional installation is required. Installation requires simply turning off the power, pulling out the stove to attach the Stove Guard power box between the 240V stove plug and the wall outlet, and then easily mounting the control and sensor unit in any convenient location near the stove. Includes these parts: 1 Power Box 1 Monitoring Unit 4 Mounting Screws (2 short/2 long) Owner's manual
Compatible With Electric Stoves With Attached Ovens Because the Stove Guard must only be connected to a 240VAC grounded outlet, it will control the entire 240-volt power to the stove, including the oven, but it will not disturb the 120V power to the stove (i.e. the stove lights or appliance outlet). To use the oven alone, without any stovetop elements, simply turn the Stove Guard off by pressing the button on the front of the control panel.
Stove Guard has a four-conductor AC outlet and plug for connecting between the outlet and the stove. For homes with a three-conductor outlet for the stove (lacks the ground conductor), the electrical outlet and the stove's electrical outlet will have to be updated. The outlet is available from home improvement centers (Lowes & Home Depot) for about $11 to 13 dollars. Appliance stores that sell stoves will carry the cord kit for $17 to $24. A four-conductor outlet for stoves became a national standard in all homes constructed after 1995.
