Essential Info

The Dakota Alert DVR-01 PIR Motion Detector and Camera uses a Passive Infrared detector and a digital video recorder to record 30 seconds of video and audio every time a person passes in front of the sensor. The DVR stores the video on a Micro SD card (4GB card included). Simple to use and battery operated, the camera can be set up instantly in nearly any location. Infrared operation allows the camera to operate in low light conditions. The camera can be connected to a computer via the USB cable (included) to download the video clips with no special software required. The built in lithium battery will power the camera for up to 10 days. A simple security solution for parents to monitor kids after school or anyone else who wants to know what is happening when they are not at home.

I returned this item. It sounds like an okay item from various reviews, but there seems to be a big gap somewhere between cheap and expensive cameras. What I want seems simple - a wireless camera with motion detection capable of being accessed by computer or smart phone, but I have yet to find one that gets consistently good reviews and meets my requirements.

I have utilized a number of supposedly good cameras and I have to say these are great as they are small portable so you can put them anywhere you want coversage. The only problem I had was getting the date/time set up as the directions were a little unclear, however once I went to tech support it was no problem. We went out of town for the weekend and I activated all four that I purchased. The video was excellent and sound was incrediable. An excellent product for the price.

Rather user friendly I did however have a few problems with the time stamp feature (now resolved) it will take a card up to 8 GB has both video and sound The 30 foot range to trigger the device may be a bit optimistic but otherwise works as promised a great deal given the price.

I could not find out if this camera is color before I ordered it. It is but has a pink white balance. Motion sensor must pick up ghosts as it runs much of the night in an empty room. It also seems to stop when real motion is still in front of it.

This is the facts. I had a little problem setting the time/date. Once I googled the camera, the guy in you tube showed the right way to set the time/date. The camera's battery doesn't last as claim. I had to download a program to convert the footage to view it on my laptop. Although the camera is small, the infared lights makes it stand out like a sore thumb.

A nice little 'spycam' with very good picture quality BUT I can't seem to get the date/timestamp set correctly even though I am doing EXACTLY what the directions say. It runs constantly even though there is no movement in the room and it seems the only way to charge it is with the camera on which means as its charging its recording every little thing going on in the room very annoying. If this would work as it should it would be an awsome little camera for what I need it for.
