The INSTEON - X10 Internet Controller provides a way to selectively connect to the internet/ router or turn on/ off connections to Ethernet devices. In conjunction with an INSTEON ApplianceLinc or OutletLinc or an X10 appliance module, these connections can be made remotely, based on sensor input, or on a pre-determined schedule. It draws power from the attached wall-plug transformer.

The switch is completely self-contained and preset at the factory. There are 3 male RJ-45 connectors with a color marking ring on each one. The RJ-45 without a colored ring is connected to the Internet "Source". The yellow and red marked RJ-45 connections are plugged in to Ethernet devices, PCs, network cameras, etc. The power transformer is plugged in to the Appliance module. In "off" mode (appliance module powered off), data flows normally from the unmarked "source" RJ-45 connection to the device attached to the yellow RJ-45. When the appliance module is turned "on" the data moves from the unmarked source to the device connected to the red marked RJ-45 connection (and shut off to the device connected to the yellow marked RJ-45.) [RED ON when powered, Yellow ON when unpowered.]
