Product works well. Easy to install.

The smarthome parking system works very well, and I am please with it. I bought two single systems rather than one duel after reading reviews stating that the duel system did not cover a two car garage well. I had previously purchased and installed one of the "traffic light" parking systems. It did not work well at all. I found it to be extremely inaccurate and unreliable. It had a range of error of about two feet: not acceptable in a garage parking situation. I returned that device and purchased the Smarthome laser system. The motion sensor is accurate and gives me ample time to get into position. The laser light is bright and highly visible. Installation was easy. I did not use the hook & loop fasteners since my garage ceiling is a rough texture. However, the device is very lightweight and the hook & loop attachments should do quite well on a smooth ceiling. Care must be taken when installing with the screws as proper positioning is a must. The device does not swivel left to right: only fore and aft. I got mine installed correctly, but this could be a problem. Also, the screw holes in the mounting base were not countersunk enough for the provided screws. I had to enlarge the countersink to accommodate the screw heads. Not a big problem, but.... The laser head is not snug in the housing making adjustment a little sloppy. I had to add some tape to the head in order to make it hold its position. That was a little annoying. I would think that the adjustment should stay put, but the laser head is way too sloppy. Again, not a major problem. I was lead to understand that the device would work on either a 9-volt battery or on AC power. In fact it does, but the 9-volt battery only lasted a few days. I now assume it is for back-up only. I had to go ahead and use the AC adapter and power cord. Again, this is not a big deal, but now I have two ugly power cords and an extension cord running across my garage ceiling. I'm pleased with the devices and would recommend them to others.

This product is advertised as battery-powered. So far, I have put 2 new batteries into this system And each has lasted on average approximately 7 days. I'm trying it one more time with the new battery. If I do not see a significant improvement in the life of the battery, I will be sending it back to you.

Worked very good at my other house for 8 years and I'm installing it in my new house. Why try something different when I know this one works. I just wish it was adjustable side to side.

Longevity note: I purchased three of the units over 6 years ago. all three are working fine, no issues. Aside from what the other reviewer said on the swivel capability dual versus single We haven't had an issue with the laser timing out too early it can, but we must enter the garage too hot/fast to notice. on my recommendation, family and friends have purchased 15 more units...I haven't heard of one failing yet. Highly recommended...much better than a suspended tennis ball.
