Since it can be placed upright or flat, the Water Warning Leak Detection Alarm can fit easily and discreetly at the base of water heaters, sinks, or toilets, as well as near plumbing connections or hoses, any water-using appliance or device that has the potential to leak and cause damage. I purchased these for myself last year and I truly the alarms when one went off under my kitchen sink. It saved me a LOT of aggravation by early warning. I gave this order to a dear friend for a house warming gift telling her that I hope she never hears the alarm go off, however, hoping it would give her piece of mind. I wish an alarm would sound when the batteries get low.

Very clever design but the battery contacts are flimsy. Two units broke when the battery was attached.

Relatively easy to install, except for battery. When tested with water, one unit did not respond, required repeated testing before it became functional. A test button similar to a smoke detector would be helpful.

Value for the price is unbeatable. No "installation" is involved other than placing where you don't want any water. Time will tell if the alarm works as advertised. Testing indicates that it will but it has only been a month since I placed the sensors.

Good value. I have had same items for more than 4 years with no problems. Only critisism, the battery leads on most units are short making installing battery difficult. Once in place everything else is as advertised. JA

I ordered a total of 8 of these alarms. I had one that was defective out of the packaging but got a replacement from Smarthome quickly. One of the units has already worked for me. There was a small amount of liquid under a bathroom faucet in a cabinet. I still don't know what was leaking but I suspect a package of baby wipes that was on it's side was the culprit. It was a small amount of liquid but the alarm did sound.

Pros - Worked within the first week I used them. One alarm went off because of toilet sweat and top of the tank wasn't on properly. Water was splashing out and over. Cons - The batteries they come with only last 30 days according to the package. The battery compartment may be too snug to put the battery in. The 9 volt connection leads are also too short to attach the battery without some serious fiddling. While you to connect the batter, the alarm goes off. It's maddening.

This water detection device works very effectively and produces a very audible signal at the first few drips of water. the 5-unit package is an excellent value considering market price elsewhere for a single unit of this model. Only critism is the included battery is a poor quality needed quick replacement, but not serious.

Highly recommend. Recently purchased these alarms and have already benefited when my hot water heater blow off valve leaked water and the alarm went off. Alarm was loud enough to hear through the closed basement door and blaring TV. Also like that the alarm fits underneath/behind the refrigerator since I once had a slow leak in the ice maker hose. The 5 pack is a great value and easily found a place in need for all of them.
