The water sensor can be placed on any dry surface. It provides a dry contact closure which is connected to I/O Linc via the 20 Foot 2 Conductor, 22-Gauge/AWG Interconnect Wire.
Applications for the I/O Linc - Leak / Flood Sensor Kit
Use I/O Linc to detect and notify you of unwanted water when it happens. Place the water sensor:
Behind the toilet
Under the sink
By the fish tank
Next to your washer and dryer
Near the water heater
Under your spa or above ground pool
Near potted plants
In a shed or utility closet
In the basement
Under a skylight
Behind the refrigerator

I/O Linc - Leak / Flood Sensor Kit works to help notify you of water damage but should only be considered as a loss mitigating, risk reducing device. The water sensor does an outstanding job of triggering I/O Linc to send out INSTEON commands that can alert you in the event water is present on the floor where the sensor is located. This notification will help reduce water damage when appliances or supply lines fail, but can not guarantee that there will be no water damage. Enhance I/O Linc - INSTEON Leak / Flood Sensor Kit and your INSTEON network by using it with a I/O Linc - INSTEON Telephone Alert Kit. The Telephone Alert Kit incorporates a phone dialer along with an I/O Linc to immediately notify you and/or neighbors and loved ones via telephone and/or cell phone in the event of a water leak. By linking these kits together you can trigger a phone call to be placed to stop catastrophic and expensive water damage as soon as it starts. The phone dialer uses your existing phone line to dial out and requires no monthly monitoring or service fee to operate. Now whether you are at the office, at the store, or on vacation, you can be immediately notified when there is a concern.
