The Dataprobe, Inc. 1410023 iBoot® DC Remote On/Off Reboot Controller is a 10/100 Ethernet network attached, IP addressed, Web Controlled power switch. Anyone with a web browser can access iBoot to perform power On, Off or Reboot (timed power shutdown). iBoot is password protected for security. iBoot-DC supports 5 - 48VDC up to 12 Amps. To control 120VAC devices, use the iBoot AC. Use iBoot for: Rebooting - Remote reboot of any device, routers, servers, kiosks, etc. The device to be rebooted need not be network attached. Security - Secure sensitive devices by keeping them powered off when not in use. This prevents hackers from detecting them at all times. Energy Savings - Power down equipment when not needed for power savings and to save on wear and tear. Notification - Power up alert devices like sirens, lamps, messages. Control - Power up environmental system like heaters, coolers, pumps, etc. Smarthome does not accept defective returns for this product. Just point your browser to iBoot's IP address, enter the Password and you're one click away from power ON, OFF or a timed Reboot. It's that simple.
The unique Auto-Ping feature allows iBoot to monitor any IP device on the network and take automatic action whenever the device is down.
Auto-Ping
The Auto-Ping feature allows iBoot to automatically detect failed equipment and perform a timed reboot or other power control function (like turning on an indicator or siren). You set any IP address to be periodically Ping'ed. When iBoot no longer detects a response from the address, the programmed power control function is actuated. Power Control can be Power-Up, Power-Down or Timed Reboot (either once or repeatedly until the ping response resumes) when the Ping is not responded to.
The new Heartbeat Detect feature allows iBoot to monitor any server or PC running either the free Heartbeat Generator Program, or heartbeats integrated into your custom software. Dataprobe can provide developer support to make integration easy.
Heartbeat
Like Auto-Ping, the Heartbeat monitor allows iBoot to monitor one or more devices and take action when these devices fail. With the Heartbeat monitor enabled, iBoot will expect a network message on a regular interval. When it misses a user defined number of intervals, it will perform its programmed action. Use the heartbeat to insure that you server is running. When it crashes, it will be automatically rebooted. The heartbeat can be generated in any of several ways:
A Windows executable program that will run as a tray applet that will transmit either continuous heartbeats to an iBoot
A Windows .dll file is also available for use by Windows applications
A Windows executable that will run as a tray application, monitor a specific process. If the monitored process stops responding the application will stop transmitting the heartbeat to the iBoot
The Heartbeat Protocol will allow users to imbed this capability directly into their software products
