Essential Info

The Sensaphone Web600 is a flexible web-based home monitoring and alarm notification system that tracks critical temperatures and other conditions and notifies you immediately when current values exceed the normal range. It is completely standalone and easy to use device that can be used for monitoring cold food storage, medical cold storage, and other temperature sensitive areas like computer rooms and data centers. In addition to temperature monitoring, it can also read values from humidity sensors, air quality sensors, water leak detection sensors, door and window contacts and more (sensors sold separately). Whenever conditions reach abnormal levels, a notification can be sent via email or text message to eight different users, letting you know of the condition change as soon as it happens. A built-in web server allows you to program and configure the device as well as view live status and history from the internet. This compact unit allows for wall-mount or tabletop installations. It has six available zone inputs (for six sensors), an Ethernet port for internet monitoring.

This item will go to five stars after I have used it for one year. Setup was easy (direct IP, software did not install). I have had no TRUE alarms, but tests worked well.
    ROBERT -- meriden, CT   11/9/2012
The perfect system for monitoring many different applications at remote locations, very pleased, easy to setup and use.

I am reviewing the Sensaphone non Web 400. Good when it worked. Did call at a couple of low temps but stopped working after a year. Company refused to fix or do anything about it. I was really disappointed because of all the other accessories I had to buy are now useless. BTW, the water bug is useless. It makes a loud noise, but it is not even loud enough for a downstairs tenant to hear it. I feel like I should have invested the money into an actual alarm system instead of this device. Giving it two stars for when it actually worked.

Simple install, setup took a few minutes, but not terrible. To get the most out of this, you need the optional battery module, not offered for sale by Smarthome, I had to track one down from another vendor.

Very nice product. I use this with motion detectors and sensors to send me email at work if certain doors are opened or if there is movement in certain areas. The motion detectors also let me know when my kids have made it home from school. I only have a few complaints. One, I wanted to get text messages on my cell phone but this feature only works with certain carriers and my carrier was not included. If you want to receive text messages be sure your carrier is included. Second, I can't get it to keep accurate time and that affects scheduling. For example, if you schedule it to send emails to your office between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and the built in timer reads 9:30 instead of 9:00 you will miss emails between 9:00 and 9:30 that you should have received. The manual needs a lot of work and much of it is too technical for the average person. Tech support is very good and all of my calls have been answered. I would give this product a 5 star rating if not for the problem I am having with the timer and the overly technical manual.

Bought 2 of these 5 years ago and they have paid off 10x over! Use 1 at home and the other in garage as a temp monitor and that one doubles as a portable monitor when we watch friends and families homes during holidays! Notified if their furnace goes out, smoke alarm sound or B&Es. And it is just as quick as plugging into a telephone jack!
    JOSEPH -- garner, NC   10/30/2011
Does what it says well. Very happy with it so far. It's expensive, but it was the best value vs. function that I found.
    JAMES -- jupiter, FL   9/3/2011
great system and support except I have been unable to gain remote access to the system from a remote computer via the internet which I desire. Suggestions from many sources have not worked so far. Email notifications and text messages for alarms work great. Is easy to hook up and program.
Tim -- san jose, CA   7/21/2011
Very nicely engineered and built product, and works well as it all should be since not inexpensive. Very pleased with how it works just using to monitor temp and power in house during day, since pets home alone. Setup was easy and fun, but I know a little about networks and IP addresses etc. Two things to note: 1 It does NOT work with web-based email addresses e.g., Gmail or Yahoo mail etc.. I specifically asked Smarthome support about this before buying, and they supposedly checked and then told me it did. They were wrong. I think if you download the user manual from Sensaphone it is correct on this; earlier version on Smarthome site month or so ago was incorrect. However, this is not a deal-killer. If you call Sensaphone support, they are wonderful and very responsive and they will quickly set up what you need. Only problem could be they are M-F business hours, so might have to wait for them to open. 2 To monitor AC power, need aux battery, which Smarthome does not sell. Found elsewhere, but it is $70, starting to make this pretty pricey all in. Of course, your router and cable or DSL modem need to be on a UPS also for Sensaphone to send msg out don't plug Sensaphone into UPS. But all in all, a very nice device that does what it is supposed to.
Leo -- palm bay, FL   4/10/2011
Installed with no problems. The manual is accurate and helpful. A bit of confusion on my part when setting up, but all ok after rereading parts a few times. Need stable IP address to access it but changing IP has no effect on sending alarms.
    JOSEPH -- boston, MA   3/3/2011
Easy installation and no phone line required. Works as advertised.
    TERRY -- potsdam, NY   2/18/2011
Setting it up is tricky. I had to call the company, and they set up a dedicated email account for me. You should include this in your documentation. I suggest you take one out of the box, set it up, and see what the issues are.
    WALTER -- everett, WA   11/6/2010
Simple installation, extensive user's manual, easy online set up, nice graphics on the displays.
    JERRY -- andover, MA   10/8/2010
Works well and was easy to set up. We're able to monitor home temperature and conditions remotely.
    Scott -- paradise, Michigan   1/2/2010
Have used one since summer to monitor the temperature, AC, and visitors in my cabin. It is very easy to configure and has not failed mee.
    ROGER -- newton, MA   11/16/2009
So far I love it. It does the job. Your tech support folks were extremely helpful and friendly in terms of setting up remote monitoring through my firewall. Thanks.
