Essential Info

With over 1,000 stations in more than 200 markets broadcasting digital television, nine out of ten households can now receive free HDTV signals with the right antenna, a set-top box and a high-definition television. This Lava Electronics HD-2605 Remote Control HDTV Antenna features 360 degree rotation to make sure you get the best HDTV reception possible. Pointing it in a different location to receive a stronger signal is a breeze with the included remote control, removing the need to manually make adjustments. Its high sensitivity reception helps you get the weakest HDTV signals in more rural areas. These antennas are capable of receiving weaker HDTV signals when no significant multipath (ghost) conditions exist, i.e no reflective structures nearby.

Not useful for DVR recording, the DVR cannot control which direction the antenna points. Better to just have a couple of antennas and a combiner.

at first glance, it looks great. after opening the box, the antenna feels like its made of cheap plastic and thin aluminum about the thickness of 2-3 soda can sheets. however, it works great. pick up a ton of channels.

Live 25 miles from stations in Memphis,Tn, which has 10 or 12 stations. This antenna only picks up 2 whether placed in my hand, in attic, on roof or in middle of front yard-no difference. I bought an indoor RCA antenna for $36 and have been picking up 1080 pics on 17 channels from Memphis to Oxford,Ms. with no adjustments.

Does not receive as many stations as I anticipated. Made a temporary installation 6 feet off ground to test reception. I received 8 channels. Anticipated more when I elevated it to 30 feet but still only receive the same 8 channels. I have same issue with direction as many other customers. It is impossible to determine the direction of the antenna from inside the house. Best summary I can give is "It beats a blank!" John - Delaware

Arrived on promptly, but missing the battery contacts inside the remote. I called the customer service number and a rather surly person told me he would send out a replacement remote. It hasn't arrived. I installed it, then tried to fine tune with the rotor and it froze up,crawled back up on the roof, took it down and the rotor started working. Put it back up, ignore the rotor, oriented by guess and by God, and it works much better than the old one. I think you should skip the rotor feature until you can improve the quality.

tired of going outside to see where the HD 2605 Antenna is pointed If the aluminum elements represent the front. A directional indicator would be nice.

My wife is tired of going outside to see where the HD 2605 Antenna is pointed If the aluminum elements represent the front. A directional indicator would be nice.

Works well for me, and I'm about 40 miles from some of the stations I'm picking up. However, after a year of use, the coax that came with it has broken right near the connection on the antenna. As a result, I have to make sure I don't move it at all which is no big deal, since it's in my attic, and I never use the rotor.

this antenna is poorly built, Had trouble with the control box jacks, they aren't suppoerted other than by solder and circuit board. Had to rewire mine after one evenings use because our cat bumped the wires. i BOUGHT MINE FROM AN EBAY auction for $31 including shipping.. great price, however very poorly constructed and doubt the antenna will last long due to high winds on my ranch in central ca. I am receiving stations over 110 miles away, thats when i can get the dang thing to point at them. Wish I had left my old rotator up so I could see which way it's turned. Now I face the control box toward the window and go out side with remote to turn it by eye site. I might mount a mirror that points at it from looking out window LOL,,, how ridiculous is that??
    MICHAEL -- williamsburg, OH   4/8/2011
Have not had oppertunity to install it outside yet, but works great inside! If it's any indication of how it does work, it will work very well, possible freezing ice problems though.

When I received the item and did a bench test it would only rotate 180 deg. I called Lava Tech Support. I am an eletronic engineer, but did not want to void the warranty. With tech support on the line I disassembled the motor housing and found that a wire was wedged inbetween the top plate and the housing, restricting the movement. I moved the wire and it tested OK. I haven't installed it yet, so I can't give a funtuallity report. I can tell you that tech support mentioned that if you live close to TV transmitters you might want to unplug the amplifier which result in a better signal.

We have worked on this for days and still can not get it to remotely turn from inside the house. Red light is on but not the green one. Help!

Ordered 2 units, can’t beat the price for a Antenna ROTATOR. Installed one for the TV and intend to experiment with the other one for BROAD BAND & 2-WAY RADIO communications. Arrived on time, relatively easy assembly, added some additional sealant for better weather protection in my environment. Works as advertised, pulls in every Digital & Analog signal with no problem. The system doesn’t have a BYPASS MODE, so you must have the unit ON even after you have positioned it for maximum coverage. Also has no direction indicator, you have to be QUICK ON THE REMOTE to stop it from going all the way to the STOP position and then rotate it back. Found out if you DOUBLE CLICK the remote you can defeat that, if you are lucky, and rotate back and forth without going all the way to the stops. Also uses the COAX as the power source for the rotator, so trying to use an antenna switch box( to chose between antenna systems ) is probably a NO NO as you might run a risk of throwing voltage into any other equipment you have connected to the system. Can’t beat the product for the price, significantly increases signals, but you must keep power to the unit all the time, would suggest a bypass switch so you could use the amplifier and rotator feature when you need it. As an example, in my area 95% of the stations broadcast from the same location and no amplification is needed, the other 5% broadcast from different locations and some need amplification. For me, it is not a problem to hit the rotator for the 5% of weak stations, to try and explain this procedure to the Wife becomes a problem, particularly when the unit wants to rotate from STOP TO STOP. My solution was to aim the antenna at the 5% group, the other stations come in off the side of the antenna just fine, but the amplifier must be kept on. Al O / Quail Hollow Florida USA

Reception is fine but as there is no way of knowing where is pointing it is pretty useless unless you want to point it to one position and leave it there. As there is no feedback about where it is pointed if you want to change the setting to optimize the reception for a particular station and then return back to another position you are totally out of luck. Not sure why this device is being sold with such a low usability factor.
    TERRY A -- reeds spring, MO   9/25/2010
Absolutely no reception in my area with this antenna. I live 30 miles from several broadcast stations, but, due to the hilly terrain, it would not pull in any signals at all.
    GLENDA -- battletown, KY   8/29/2010
the antenna is great. I hope it will last. Great buy
    TED -- antioch, CA   8/16/2010
simple installation, rotor helps to fine tune stations. VERY SATISFIED
FRANCINE -- san leandro, CA   8/5/2010
I live 45 miles from Tijuana in Baja CA Mexico and I get a couple LA stations with this antenna. I've gotten a total of 51 free TV stations
