Essential Info

The Sunforce Products 600 Watt Land Wind Turbine Power Generator with MPPT Charge Controller will allow you to harness the power of the wind by using a wind turbine to generate electricity to power your home. The wind generator turbine is small yet versatile and can produce up to 600 Watts of output for charging both 12 volt and 24 volt battery banks. It is compatible with multiple battery options, including flooded lead acid, absorbed Glass mat (AGM), gel cell and NiCad; for 12-volt systems it is recommended to use batteries with 400 amp-hours and for 24-volt systems batteries with 200 amp-hours. It is field adjustable for 12V or 24V applications, making it ideal for backup and off-grid power. It also features a special coating that protects the generator in marine or coastal environments. The wind turbine is designed to operate in most climatic conditions with winds up to 150 MPH. According to the manufacturers calculations, the bearings should have a 10-year life span in 12-16 mph (6 m/s) wind speeds. Bearing life will vary from one application to another; however, you should expect at least a five-year performance in adverse conditions and 10 years in normal conditions. The turbine begins to supply power in wind speeds as low as 2.5 MPH and includes overspeed protection at 1300 RPM. It also includes an MPPT charge controller that maximizes power output for optimal charging capability and battery health.

    bought this new was working good in low wind now in hight wind the mppt applies the brakes for about 2 min then realases them again about 2 to 3 amp something is wrong..

    Regarding the confusion of Alex Clarke over his 132 watt PV system out-performing a 600 watt wind machine. The wind machine can produce a maximum of 600 watts when the wind speed is over 12.5 MPS 28mph or 45kph. The power quickly drops to 5% of that when the wind speed drops by 50%. So this unit only works when you have a lot of strong wind all the time. Few places have enough wind to make wind power cost effective. I live in a windy location at a bend in a large lake, and as windy as it is, I would expect the average output of a 600 watt wind machine to be about 30 watts for less than an hour a day, on average. Your PV system solar panels will produce 132 watts in full sun. In most places, you get full sun several hours a day most days. So a PV system will produce it's full rated power for 4 to 10 hours a day on average. So dollar for dollar, PV is a better investment in most locations. Wind power is a good investment only in special locations where extraordinary levels of wind exists, such as the hill-tops in West Texas. Everywhere else, PV is a far better investment. Wind power works effectively in less than 5% of the places you might want to use it. PV works in close to 90% of the places you might want to use it. PV has no moving parts, but will get smashed in a hailstorm... So keep that in mind as you do your ROI calculations.

    Terrible, doesn't work, voltage between two fields is 4 volts, while the last voltage is 11 volts. never better, was a grinding in the bearing now it is seized.... great. How old is it... one year old. Stuck trying to fix 700 dollar poor quality product

    I have a sunforce wind generator and it does not work and my battery bank gets weaker as the night goes on and the wind is blowing at 50kmh and I only get about 4amps at the most the solar array does alot better on one panel at 132 watts and the wind generator is 600 watts what gives.

    The gentleman from Africa has the blades installed backwards which is easy to do. Turn the blades over and try again. I purchased 2 from somebody else for my Mexico house and will buy several more for my home in the states now; from Smarthome.

    We love this product. It works in low winds or high winds and really helps keep our batteries charged without using our generator. We've had this wind generator working for over a year now. The one negative comment that I read in this product rating that the blades only turns slowly at 20 mph may be due to the built in braking function that you manually turn on an off with a rocker switch on the MPPT charge controller. When the brake is on the blades will only turn slowly at high winds. If the brake is off the blades turn very fast and generate the power claimed by the company. The braking function works very effectively. I did have a problem with the MPPT charger but I called customer service and they replaced it at no cost.

    25 watts at 6 mph. So far I could not find a better wind turbine for low wind. The best is always use a solar panel for your money. You can buy one 250 watts soalr panel for $ 750....and that will give you a day so much more watts. But if you are like me...I like both and I love the sound of it ! Windmax is the only one that comes close to this turbine...but this design of sunforce rocks...it has good curb appeal.

    I don't understand the bad comments I read. I have one and it does what it claims and i did hours of checking: 12 mph = 56 watts. 13.4mph =100 watts. 17.8 mph =200 watts 20 mph = 300 watts. 22.3 mph = 350 watts. 26.31 = 500. I could not find any better wind turbines working at LOW wind and giving amps. If you have high winds then buy a missouri wind and solar turbine...but they give nothing at low wind.

    This product DOES NOT WORK AT ALL and will NOT produce ANY power in anything short of a gale. I am not qualified to judge where the problem is, but it appears to me that the blades are so wrong that the machine can only spin slowly in 20 knots of wind. Do not buy this product until the problem is solved.
