The Niles Audio DS7FX 7-inch Surround Effects In-Ceiling / In-Wall Speakers were designed for 5.1 and 7.1 channel home theater systems for the rear and side channels - or for multi-channel audio systems. The Directed Soundfield (DS) woofer pivot mechanism enables the speaker to direct the sound to optimum the listening area. A glass fiber woofer cones and dual Teteron tweeters on a multi-axis array provide ultra-realistic surround sound effects. The 7-inch woofer cone was designed for improved dynamics, smoother sound and less peaking at high frequencies. The1-inch tweeters pivot independently of the woofer to provide additional control of the sound, offering an ultra-wide dispersion and smooth high frequency response. The speakers also feature a Diffuse / Direct switch to create spacious surround sound that optimally envelopes the listener. Use the Diffuse setting for movies and general music listening since most films are mixed using non-localized surround effects and music is usually recorded in a favorable acoustic environment. Use the Direct setting for discrete multi-channel recordings that equally emphasize front and surround sounds. For 7.1-channel surround sound systems, use the Diffuse setting on the side effects loudspeakers and the Direct setting for the rear effects loudspeakers. To complete a 5.1 or 7.1 channel surround sound system, the DS7FX is designed for use with Niles Audio DS7HD, DS7PR or DS7MP left, center, right channel speakers. Please Note: DS Series speakers from Niles are designed for an in-ceiling (ceiling mount) installation as their primary application, but can be used for an in-wall (wall mount) application as well. Niles Audio 3rd generation Directed Soundfield (DS) speakers offer amazing performance and versatility. Using a truly unique design that offers a fully adjustable, independent pivoting woofer and tweeter you can create the ideal listening environment no matter where you have positioned your in-ceiling / in-wall speaker. The rust-proof MicoThin speaker grilles magnetically attach to the speakers for a flush mount to the ceiling or wall, leaving an unobtrusive, seamless blend, and can even be painted to match with any room decor. You can install with confidence and ease using the spring-tensioned mounting clamps that adjust to expanding and contracting surfaces. Weather-resistant construction enables installation in moist areas, such as bathrooms or outdoors under eaves.
Installation
Side Surround Effects - Position surround effects loudspeakers to the sides of the listening area with the tweeters in-line with the listener. The tweeters should point to the front and rear of the room.
Rear Surround Effects - Position surround effects loudspeakers behind the listening area, to the inside of the front left and right speakers. The tweeters should point to the sides of the room.
Running Wire in Walls or Ceilings
When running loudspeaker wire inside walls or ceilings, use special jacketed cable (CL-2 or CL-3 rating) to protect the wire and for fire prevention. In some municipalities, conduit is required. For a trouble-free installation, low voltage wire such as loudspeaker wire must be in accordance with the National Electrical Code and any applicable provisions of the local building code. If you are unsure of the correct installation techniques, wire jacket, or type of conduit to use, consult a professional audio/video installer, building contractor, or the local building and inspection department.
