If you plan to install a home theater system, give it a professional finish with this Niles Audio CM710Si Stereo Input In-Ceiling / In-Wall speaker. The speaker has a dual voice coil design which provides left and right channel stereo sound form a single speaker. The 7-inch polypropylene woofer gives you greater low frequency bass response than competitor models. The woofer is light, strong and damped, with a full 7-inch size that fits in the same size outer dimensions as most other 6 1/2-inch woofers. An integrated woofer/baffle setup allows for increased woofer surface area, delivering more bass in less space with greater dynamic range. The treated urethane surround increases sensitivity while preserving strength. The dual 13mm fluid cooled Kaladex tweeters are perfect for clear and detailed high frequency sounds from both the left and right channels at opposing angles to preserve stereo separation. Constructed of high-impact ABS, this speaker is extremely durable, featuring weather resistant material and a UV (ultraviolet) additive to resist the "yellowing" that can occur over time when exposed to sunlight - which reduces installation limitations and provides unique solutions in moist environments or outdoors under eaves. Included is a paintable flush-mount aluminum grille that is acoustically transparent and lets sound pass through for a clean, discrete installation. The Niles Audio CM710Si 7-inch stereo/input in-ceiling / in-wall speaker handles up to 75 Watts of power from a stereo or amplifier. If your home theater has a little more power than that, or you want pivoting tweeters, take a look at the Niles CM730Si speaker (100 Watts) or the Niles Audio CM750Si speakers (125 Watts). Please Note: CM Series speakers from Niles Audio are designed for an in-ceiling (ceiling mount) installation as their primary application, but can be used for an in-wall (wall mount) application as well. Installation
This speaker is designed to be installed in any standard ceiling. There are two considerations for placing your speakers; ease of running the cable to the loudspeaker and coverage of the loudspeaker. The best stereo effect will be achieved if the loudspeaker is placed in the center of the listening area. Avoid installing the loudspeaker near a corner to prevent a 'boomy' or diffracted sound. CM700 series speakers will cover an area of a circle with a 16-foot diameter when mounted at an 8-foot height.
Running Wire in Walls or Ceilings
When running speaker wire inside walls or ceilings, use special jacketed cable (a minimum of 18 to 16-gauge two-conductor CL-2 or CL-3 rated loudspeaker wire) to protect the wire and for fire prevention. In some areas, conduit is also required. For a trouble-free installation, low-voltage wire such as loudspeaker wire must be run in accordance with the National Electrical Code and any applicable provisions of the local building code. If you are unsure of the correct installation techniques, wire jacket, or type of conduit to use, consult a professional audio/video installer, building contractor, or the local building and inspection department.
