If you plan to install a home theater system, give it a professional finish with this pair of Niles CM610 in-ceiling / in-wall speakers. Each speaker has a 6-inch polypropylene woofer that gives you greater low frequency bass response than competitor models. The woofer is light, strong and damped, with a full 6-inch size that fits in the same size outer dimensions as most other 5-inch woofers. The integrated woofer/baffle setup allows for increased woofer surface area, delivering more bass in less space with greater dynamic range. The 13mm Kaladex tweeter is perfect for high frequencies and has fluid cooling. Constructed of high-impact ABS, this pair of speakers is extremely durable, and even feature a UV (ultraviolet) additive to resist the "yellowing" that can occur over time when exposed to sunlight. Included are a pair of paintable flush-mount aluminum grilles and recessed cloth grilles that are acoustically transparent and let sound pass through for a clean, discrete installation. The Niles CM610 6-inch two-way in-ceiling / in-wall speakers are ideal for handling up to 50 Watts (each) of power from a stereo or amplifier. If your home theater has a little more power than that, the Niles CM630 speakers are capable of handling up to 75 Watts (each) and feature a pivoting tweeter. Please Note: CM Series speakers from Niles are designed for an in-ceiling (ceiling mount) installation as their primary application, but can be used for an in-wall (wall mount) application as well. Installation
These speakers are designed to be installed in any standard ceiling. There are two considerations for placing your speakers; ease of running the cable to the loudspeaker and coverage of the loudspeaker. The best stereo effect will be achieved if both the loudspeakers are at equal distance from the listener and closer together than the listener is from the loudspeakers. Avoid installing the loudspeakers near corners to prevent a 'boomy' or diffracted sound. CM600 series speakers will cover an area of a circle with a 16-foot diameter when mounted at an 8-foot height.
Running Wire in Walls or Ceilings
When running speaker wire inside walls or ceilings, use special jacketed cable (a minimum of 18 to 16-gauge two-conductor CL-2 or CL-3 rated loudspeaker wire) to protect the wire and for fire prevention. In some areas, conduit is also required. For a trouble-free installation, low-voltage wire such as loudspeaker wire must be run in accordance with the National Electrical Code and any applicable provisions of the local building code. If you are unsure of the correct installation techniques, wire jacket, or type of conduit to use, consult a professional audio/video installer, building contractor, or the local building and inspection department.
