But by adding a subwoofer to your speaker system, you'll be adding impact and realism to recorded music and the wide variety of today's movie formats. The Low-Profile 8-Inch 100-Watt Subwoofer utilizes a modern class A/B amplifier circuit to produce high-powered bass with a minimum of heat. Its variety of input and output connections make this subwoofer easy to set up and use in almost any stereo or home theater system. The subwoofer will connect to your stereo system using RCA cables or speaker wire, both sold separately. Due to excessive weight, Smarthome will add a heavy-item shipping charge to this item. The Low-Profile 8-Inch 100-Watt Subwoofer's auto power feature keeps the electronics in a standby mode until a signal is detected, which turns the amplifier on instantly. Each woofer uses an overhung voice coil and large excursion suspension to produce higher sound pressure levels with lower distortion. Each enclosure is designed to match the parameters of its woofer to maximize performance. Special low noise vents are used for less distortion at the bottom of the frequency range.
If a preamplifier output connection is not available on your amplifier or receiver, the subwoofer can be connected using your equipment's speaker outputs using speaker wire. If you do have a preamplifier, connect it to the stereo line-level RCA-type input jacks on the subwoofer.
Both placement in your listening room and the acoustics of the room will affect the subwoofer's performance. Any location will be a compromise between acoustic performance and the aesthetic blend of the subwoofer enclosure with the decor and furnishings of your room. Experiment with the location of your subwoofer in your room for the best results at your listening position.
The Low-Profile 8-Inch 100-Watt Subwoofer will easily fit under tables, beds and other furniture, and a pair of stands is included for standing on its side. If you prefer your subwoofer to remain completely out of sight, a Dual 8-inch In-Wall Subwoofer is also available.
