If you have ever found yourself stuck with a dead cell phone or mobile device and no way to charge it then the Kiwi Choice KWS1 U-Powered Solar Charger - Black is the product for you. This mobile device charger is the perfect companion for anyone with a cell phone because it allows you to have a back-up source of power to keep your phone or mobile device up and running. The U-Powered contains 3 solar panels that let you take advantage of using clean solar energy to power your handheld devices keeping you connected but doing so in an environmentally "green" way. For added convenience Kiwi Choice has placed a magnet on the back of the U-Powered so that you can stick the product to anything metal and let it charge hands-free. However, in the event you aren't able to charge the U-Powered via its solar panels it does offer several other methods of charging such as USB port, wall or car charger. This charger simply offers you peace of mind in ensuring you're never stuck with a dead phone again whether you're on the road, on vacation or simply out and about. Once charged the U-Powered will hold on to its power for at least 6 months. Fully charge it up once and then keep it in your purse, glove box or desk at work and rest assured you'll always have a back-up power source. An added feature of this device is that it comes with an LED flashlight built in to the end of the charger.

This is one of the cooler and handier products I've tested! The Kiwi U-Powered comes with 11 connector tips to fit virtually any handheld electronic device on the market giving it great flexibility in use. It is charging my iPod as I write this review and I have tested it on 4 different phones for charging compatibility and it worked flawlessly on all 4. The 4 phones I have tested it on as of this review are the 2 Blackberry bolds (old and new), Samsung Infuse, and iPhone, plus I can verify it works on an iPod. The solar charger is easy use, about the size of a phone so easy to carry around and doesn't require any type of installation. To charge the solar panels I left the charger on the dashboard of my car while in the sun which seemed to do the trick. When you're ready to charge simply connect the USB cord (included) to the charger, connect the appropriate tip for the device in need of charging and then plug in to your handheld device. You can also check the amount of power in the U-Powered by pushing in on a side button. This will illuminate 1-4 blue lights on the device to give you a rough estimate of devices power. The included owner manual breaks down the indicator lights as such: 1 light is 15% - 35%, 2 lights are 35% - 65%, 3 lights are 65% - 95% and 4 lights is 95% - 100% power. Another nice feature is that if you aren't able to charge the device via its solar panels you can charge it simply via any USB outlet. Lastly another button on the side of the charger turns it into an LED flashlight which is always handy to have around just in case.
