These patch cords accommodate both T568A and T568B wiring applications, and are offered in four colors for easy circuit identification. Use them for all types of networking, voice and even video applications (using baluns). They are approved for use with10Base-T, 100Base-T, 1000Base-T, and Token Ring-type 3. Each one is fully compliant with the Cat. 5e specification and exceeds the requirements of Ethernet IEEE 802.3ab and Token Ring UTP IEEE 205.5
Each cable features insert-molded boot fittings surrounding a high-quality RG-45 plug with gold plated contacts for maximum signal transfer. The molded boot provides superior mechanical strain-relief properties and the slim-profile boot allows for connection to the highest-density equipment.
All patch cables are 100% tested prior to leaving the factory and are backed with a manufacturer's lifetime guarantee.
Why Use a Cable with a Snagless Molded Strain Relief? When used in a home distribution panel, all the wires overlapping each other can sometimes get snagged upon removal. When a regular cable's RJ-45 clip gets caught on other wires, it can easily break off when removed from the cabinet. The molded boot not only adds strain relief to the cable but also covers the clip, allowing the cable to be removed from these sometimes-cluttered places with ease. This feature makes these cables ideal for networking and home automation use.
Are Cat. 5e Cables Backwards-Compatible with Older Standards and Accessories? While these cables are made to handle data rates up to 1 gigabit per second, they easily handle slower data rates and are excellent for voice usage. Use these cables with 10BaseT or 100BaseT network cards and hubs.
Why use Stranded Patch Cables? A stranded patch cable is made up of multiple wires, each of which has several strands of small copper wires within the insulation sleeve. Stranded cables are more flexible than solid conductor cables, which make them ideal for connecting between components. This construction is great for the flexing and the frequent changes that occur at the wall outlet or patch panel. Stranded conductors do not transmit data signals as far as solid cable.
Solid conductor cables have one larger gauge wire within each sleeve. Solid cable has better electrical performance than stranded cable and has been used for years inside walls and through ceilings. Since these cables are not likely to be disturbed and the runs are usually longer, solid conductor cables make more sense.
