If you like the idea of controlling your home's automation through your computer but have resisted because of the location of your PC, installing a touchscreen controller will combine full home control with the convenience of installation anywhere in the house. Ideal for environments that do not lend themselves well to placing the PC near the desired display location, the Remote LCD in-wall system is based on cat. 5e connectivity and allows for quick and easy installation, saving valuable time and money. You'll retain full control over the computer at the touchscreen location, but you'll be able to place this unit in locations not ordinarily amenable to PCs. Many commercial and residential locations already have cat. 5e installed, which may allow you to use existing cable; otherwise, cat. 5e cable and connectors are sold separately. A computer and home control software are sold separately.

The Remote LCD & Wall Box & Single Transmitter system allows you to locate your PC up to 500 feet from where you want to mount the display. Not only is video supported up to 500 feet, support and connectivity for audio and serial for the touchscreen are all made available at the display, providing flexibility in functionality. If so desired, a mouse and keyboard can be connected, if you prefer using these standard controls, especially convenient if you want to surf the Internet or send emails.

Everything you'll need to set up this system is included in this kit, other than the PC. The transmitter sends the information to the LCD, which is housed in the included wall box, designed for 16-inch on-center stud walls. A software CD is included with the kit, and it will install the necessary drivers. The connection from the PC to the display is made through cat. 5e twisted pair cable, which is cost effective and easy to terminate. The simple approach also allows you to move the display location with greater ease and reduced cost.

The Remote LCD & Wall Box & Single Transmitter is also available in silver. A black Local LCD & Wall Box set is also available, if you plan to install the touchscreen in a location where the PC can be placed nearby. This unit is also available in silver.
