Essential Info

A common complaint about pet doors is that it allows for the possibility of stray animals entering the home. Catwalk's Magnetic Wood-Fitting Cat Door solves that problem by only allowing entry to your pets. How? Catwalk's Multi-Magnetic System has a similar action to that of electromagnetic doors, without having the problems often associated with these types of doors, such as battery or electrical failure. A small magnet is attached to the pet collar, which activates the Multi-Magnets operating the opening latch to allow pet entry. Once the pet has entered, the system will automatically close the latch. You can even leave town, knowing your cat will be able to come and go as he pleases, but strays will remain outside. No electricity or batteries are required!

The Magnetic Wood-Fitting Cat Door's flap is manufactured from tough, high-impact Polycarbonate. Its generous size will admit even large cats, as well as small dogs! The Cat Door self-drains condensation build-up and moisture, and its weather seal will reduce drafts associated with other pet doors. The Cat Door's four-way manual locking system will allow you flexibility in mandating your pet's movements: choose from In Only, Out Only, In and Out, or Locked, denying access from either side, should such a situation be warranted. Installation is easy - your home handyman will be able to fit it easily into your door using only the provided four stainless-steel screws.

The Magnetic Wood-Fitting Cat Door comes with two collar magnets for your cats. Have more than two cats? Not a problem! Additional magnets are sold separately. This cat door is also available without the magnetic properties. It has all the same features except for the magnetic operating system.

NOTE: Magnetic doors are designed for cats older than 9 months of age, Catwalk does not advise fitting magnetic collars to kittens.

Easy to install, ease of use, excellent product! I really liked it!
BARBARA -- olevano romano, XX   10/11/2009
    It's ok!

The door is a little ricekty, but it serves the purpose of keeping uninvited cats out of our kitchen. Unfortunately the neighborhood raccoons have figured out how to get in without the magnet, and for me, having wild animals in the house is worse than random felines. Amusingly, our cat comes home with all kinds of metal things attached to the collar on her magnet - nails, rusty razor blades, staples, once she even got stuck to a tuna can.
LACY -- highlands ranch, CO   7/24/2008
This was easy to install and works well for our purposes. (We used it inside our house as we have one cat who gangs up on another, so we put the kitty door going into our spare bedroom so our smaller cat has a place to escape). Just beware that the magnet is REALLY strong! Our cat is only about 5 pounds, and she attaches to everything! Steel studs in the walls, computer cases, the stove, the bed... it's ridiculous. So, if you're getting this for a kitten or a tiny cat, you may have to watch them closely. Our cat figured out how to come out of the cat door pretty easily, but going in (where the magnet actually has to unlock it) took about a week. Overall, good value and gets the job done.
    DARLENE -- corning, NY   7/10/2008
Installation was easy. Quality was not as good as expected, looked cheap. Magnets are quite heavy for my cat and cat must have head down for magnet to work. Ok product.
    REBECCA -- pinckney, MI   5/8/2008
    Works great!
    VELIA -- houston, TX   2/10/2008
This was a replacement for a door that I brought years ago, the holes for the screws had changed so I just adpated the installtion of the door. It is working great, but it would have been nice if the screw placement would of remained the same.
    NADEEN -- lahaina, HI   1/19/2008
Fabulous! Has sloved my problem of all of the neiborhood cats having a party in my house while I am at work. Both of my cats figured out the door pretty quickly. Love it!
    PAUL J -- higganum, CT   10/4/2007
Love the magnetic opening cat door. My 8 year old Tom cat seems to have no problems going through it. I thought that it was priced fairly, and it was simple to install. Konwing what I do now after purchasing this product, I would not hesitate to purchase it again.
RON -- mercer island, WA   7/21/2007
This product didn't work at all. The cat could get in, but so could the raccoons. We bought this product to keep the raccoons out but they could push hard on the door and make it open. We have had to tape it shut to keep them out. Bad product!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    JOHN -- zachary, LA   7/20/2007
Just what I expected. Works very well.
RUTH BARTON -- cumberland, ON   5/31/2007
Well packed and good instructions for installation.
    SARA -- seattle, WA   10/7/2006
the door is of very good quality, and it works. We no longer have racoons in the house, but the cat has picked up old nails with the magnet on his collar! I called all over town for a door, all sold out. My husband found your web site. You saved us!
JA -- walnut creek, ca   9/29/2006
Help! how on earth did all these other cats learn to use the door so easily? My 2 cats will only use it if I hold the flap up for them and even then they are extremely cautious. I can't figure out how to get them to do it by themselves. They are used to wearing their magnet collars but will not push the door with their heads. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
ROBIN BRUNS -- san francisco, CA   8/20/2006
Overall it's a great door. Our cat learned to use it in about 2 days and he loves it now. He didn't like the magnet on his collar at first and managed to remove it the first night but seemed to figure out with the second magnet that he needed it to get in and out. He has picked up a couple nails but usually they stick to the door on his way in--no tuna cans or anything big like some of the reviews say. We've had no trouble with other animals getting in...except the occasional rat that our cat brings in. If your cat is a hunter you'll have this trouble with any door. Basically easy to install with moderate handyman skills. Besides the obvious necessity of cutting a hole in the door, it's a little difficult to line up the screws, also you may need a small bolt cuttter or something to trim the length of the screws. Panel doors may require aditional insulation, we used felt.

Didn't work perfectly; had to had a laborer install himself. Now the obnoxious cat who's been spraying inside our house can't come in. THANKS!
GREGG -- scott city, MO   6/30/2006
The idea behind the product is great. It's just that it requires a large magnet to operate the device (the cat door is totally mechanical - no electronics). My cat is so tiny she would probably stick to everything around that's made of metal. I'll get around to buing one of your more expensive models with the embedded electronics. Thanks, Gregg
RON -- green bay, WI   4/22/2006
our above averaqe cats, one in weight and the other curosity, had no problem adapting to the door.
    BONNIE -- pacifica, CA   2/19/2006
This product is excellent! My cat is able to access it without any problems...well worth the investment!
ALLYSON -- salt lake city, UT   11/17/2005
My cat loves her new door. It took her a few days to get used to it, but now she can come and go as she pleases. The magnet is a great feature, because all the other neighborhood cats want to come in but only my cats gets to! Thanks Smarthome!
