If you've toyed with the idea of installing a dog door but have resisted in the past due to fears of local fauna entering your home uninvited, the Infrared Locking Dog Door w/Barrier can allay these fears. Its weather-resistant self-closing magnetic flap will allow access only to your pet, since it communicates with your dog's collar via a digitally coded infrared key, so you'll never again have to remember to let the dog out or back in. The included barrier can be put in place when you and your dog are both out, so no entry to your home will be permitted. The collar key is powered by the included CR2 lithium battery. Four AA 1.5V alkaline batteries are required for the door but are sold separately.

Your dog's collar key transmits a digital coded infrared signal, which is decoded when the key comes within range of your pet door (approximately 24 inches), permitting only pets with keys of the same code to enter the house. The door re-latches automatically after the length of time you determine. Additional keys are available to be purchased separately if you have more than one dog.
The Dog Door's four-way manual locking system will allow you flexibility in mandating your pet's movements: choose from In Only, Out Only, In and Out, or Locked, denying access from either side, should such a situation be warranted. Its magnetic assisted closure protects your home from rain, drafts and heat loss. If you and your dog are both away from home, the included barrier locks into place, so absolutely no entry will be permitted to your home.
The Infrared Locking Dog Door w/Barrier will fit any window, wall or door, and detailed installation instructions are provided. However, if you are installing the pet door in a glass door, it is recommended that you have it be fitted by a professional glazier. The Dog Door even includes a detachable tunnel section, allowing it to fit any door to a maximum depth of 2 inches (54mm).
The Dog Door Infrared Lock is appropriate for dogs between 15 and 100 pounds. If your dog is smaller than this, or if you would prefer a door suitable for a cat, please try the Cat Door Infrared Lock.
