Worry about your pets while you're away? Now you can keep an eye on them while away with the power of Ergo Pet Feeders and INSTEON home control technology. Our pet feeding & viewing kit allows you to both feed your pets & view them from a computer anywhere in the world. You can also automatically have images of your pets at feeding time emailed to you on at scheduled times. Set-up is a snap and kits come with everything you need. NOTE: To feed pets from a remote location, you must already have the ability to access your home computer remotely (Internet and computer up and running, remote desktop, or similar remote access application). Hands-On Research Like many pet owners, we think about (and miss!) our pets while we're away. We have 2 cats and have set up their care to be very automated so while we are at work they are taken care of with an automated washable litter box, an automatic water bowl and this Pet feeding & viewing kit. How we use it is we bring our laptop, remote into our computer and "drop food" so that they come to the feeder. We can then see them on the camera and know they are o.k. We always have a friend stop by daily to check on them, but this gives us peace of mind that anytime (as long as they're hungry!) we want to check on them, without bothering our friend, we can. Due to excessive weight, Smarthome will add a heavy-item shipping charge to this item. This charge will be reflected in the shipping amount on the check-out page.

Setting Up Your KitPlace the feeder indoors near a power outlet. Plug the feeder's power cable into the ApplianceLinc's controlled outlet and then plug the ApplianceLinc into the power outlet.
Install the timer software onto your home PC. Connect the PowerLinc Controller to the computer with the included USB cable and plug the PowerLinc directly into a wall outlet.
Follow the software instructions for setting up the connection between your computer and the ApplianceLinc that is connected to the feeder. Once complete, you will be able to turn the feeder ON or OFF from the computer (locally or remotely). You can also create a timed schedule from either the computer or from a built-in timer on the feeder itself.
Camera SetupThe Panasonic Network Camera is easy to install, easy to operate and requires no additional software for viewing on your PC. A setup software CD-ROM is included, but this UPnP-compatible camera has an internal web server, so you don't need to keep a PC on the premises to view its images remotely. Just connect it to your local network (Ethernet cable sold separately), and you'll be able to access it from any Internet-connected PC by accessing the free web address you assign it through viewnetcam.com and entering your user name and password.

Ergo Pet Feeder
Designed for either cats or dogs over 15 pounds, this remarkable feeder can be programmed to dispense food up to eight times a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Food is delivered to the bowl over several minutes, using a slow-moving auger, which is totally pet safe, even if Fido sticks his tongue up the food chute! An additional stirring mechanism inside the storage container minimizes the possibility of clogs and jams. If your pet weighs under 15 pounds, this kit is also available with a small feeder.
Each Autopetfeeder includes a dishwasher-safe bowl for easy cleaning and a 24-hour programmable timer with built-in battery backup. A non-chewable cord ensures pet safety.
INSTEON PowerLinc Controller and Timer Software
The INSTEON PowerLinc Controller is a stand-alone home automation interface for controlling lights, appliances, heating/air conditioning systems and alarm systems. This module has on-board memory so timers can be downloaded without the need to leave your computer up and running. This home automation interface uses a USB connection for downloading timer and event macros.
The Timer Software runs on computers that use Microsoft Windows® 98se, Windows 2000 or Windows XP Home or Professional. It does not run on Windows "server" versions of 2000 or 2003.
Panasonic Network Camera
The Panasonic Network Camera provides high-quality color video that can be viewed from any Internet-connected PC in the world. The Panasonic Network Camera can be viewed from a standard web browser or even a compatible cell phone. Place the camera in your home, office, vacation home or anywhere else you'd like to keep an eye on things. No PC is required on location.
View images whether it's daytime or night. The Panasonic Network Camera offers a color night view mode with 4-Lux low-light capability. For viewing in total darkness, add an IR illuminator (sold separately). If you don't need to watch your pet as he eats, you can purchase this kit without the Panasonic camera.
Please remember that although this kit allows you to monitor and feed your pet remotely, it is not a substitute for normal pet care you would use while away.
