Essential Info

In the past, getting rid of those pesky rodents that burrow holes on your property has been limited to the use of poisons and traps that harm or kill these animals. Solmate® has developed a new environmentally friendly and non-harmful device to keep moles, gophers and other rodents from causing destruction to your land. The deterrent is a solar powered device that sends out a state-of-the-art sonic pulse every 30 seconds, irritating rodents and forcing them to find quieter surroundings. This ingenious product produces a sound only audible by rodents, so it won't have any affect on your pets. One of these covers about 7500 square feet, more than enough for a standard size property. For larger applications, simply add more devices. It is built with a strong ABS plastic and comes in a watertight housing with a unique mow over design that will last for years to come.

So far, we are very pleased with these deterrents. We placed 3 at intervals on our property and I have not seen any ground squirrels/rodents, moving or digging as they have been in the past. Hope they continue to work!

These things seem to be beacons calling the gophers over to party rather than driving them away. Every place that I put these saw a marked INCREASE in gopher activity. I finally pulled them out in frustration. Very disappointed.

We ordered two. The one that works does work very well. The other one works for a day or two then quits for 3 or 4 and then works again for a day etc. They are about 500 feet apart in very similar south-facing locations. Actually, the one that doesn't work gets more sun.

I can't honestly say whether or not my dogs can hear the sound these emit, but I sure can. The description might give you the impression that they are imperceptible to ears other than those of rodents, but this is not true. The problem we were trying to solve is chipmunks, and they do not seem to be deterred by the sounds. That, or they have a very small range. I probably wouldn't buy these again.

For me, this product works only if you use two in fairly close proximity to each other (10-15 ft apart) and have the sounds staggered. With only one product alone, I found that the gophers could tolerate the noise. With at least two, they packed up and left. One other thing you should know is that these items need to be replaced annually because the plastic tops will cloud with weathering and become impermeable to sunlight; this means no solar power and no annoying sounds for the vermin.

I received the solar powered unit and started using it right away.The gophers really dislike it because they keep burying it,but I will outlast their will.I had purchased a battery operated unit before this,but found out that you can't sustain the cost of replacement batteries (4-D cells)at a time does get expensive.So using the solar power is a much smarted move,turn it on,set it in place,unbury it from time to time,ha ha,and your done.Thanks
