Essential Info
Scientific studies show that homes with a fireplace cost 30% more to heat than homes without, because an unsealed fireplace is like an open window, allowing heated or cooled air from your HVAC unit to flow in and out freely. The Battic Door Large Draftstopper Fireplace Plug is designed to combat that by sealing the opening in your fireplace, preventing air from escaping or coming in. By sealing your fireplace with the Draftstopper Fireplace Plug, you will immediately save energy by lowering the cost of heating and cooling your home. Just like doors and windows, when fireplaces are not being used, they should be sealed to prevent wasted energy. Fireplaces are the LARGEST unsealed opening in the home. This easy to install, inexpensive solution is simply a plastic inflatable pillow for your chimney that creates a seal that will prevent the flow of air in and out. To install it, you partially inflate it with the breathing tube, slip it up into the top of the firebox, finish inflating the plug and tuck the tube out of sight. The Battic Door Large Draftstopper Fireplace Plug inflates to 38" x 16", and can be easily installed in the fireplace just below the damper level. A Round Draftstopper Fireplace Plug with an 18" diameter that will fit any metal or zero-clearance fireplace with a round damper is also available, sold separately. The Draftstopper addresses these unsealed fireplace damper concerns: Energy costs / Energy waste Heating loss Air conditioning losses Downdrafts (Odors, toxins, IAQ) Noise (used for airport noise reduction programs) Insects Energy Codes require all openings (doors, windows, attic access, etc.) to be sealed - fireplaces are often overlooked

Brick Fireboxes - Large Draftstopper The rectangular, or masonry model, of the Fireplace Plug is designed for use in conventional wood burning fireplaces. If you are not sure which model of Fireplace Plug is right for your fireplace use a flashlight to ensure whether your damper is circular or rectangular. If your damper is rectangular this is correct model for you.
This original model of the Fireplace Plug has been available for over 10 years . During this time thousands of homeowners across North America have enjoyed the added comfort and cost saving benefits of this innovative product.
The Fireplace Plug is manufactured using a proprietary 14 ml. polyurethane material which is very robust despite the harsh fireplace environment. This material is specially formulated to resist pinholes from corrosive creosote as well as extreme weather fluctuations. The Fireplace Plug has undergone extensive safety testing to ensure it poses no danger in case you accidentally start a fire without first removing the product, it is deemed to be a passive product. If you do start a fire (despite seeing the orange warning label, and, or the Fireplace Plug and prop device) the pillow will melt, then drop down and smother the fire. Unfortunately, your Fireplace Plug will be ruined.
Elastic loops attach the telescoping prop device to the Fireplace Plug insuring easy installation. The prop allows you to position the pillow without having to touch the sooty fireplace interior.
