I bought four of these at Home Depot for Christmas lights last year. Worked fine for that purpose, but there are two major drawbacks that you should know about before buying this: - The way the plug and socket are situated, it blocks an entire outlet - there is no way to plug a second device into the outlet while using this timer without plugging the timer into an extension cord. - When it turns off, the lights would dim and flicker for a few seconds - similar to a brownout. I would NOT use this timer for any electronic device. Not to be expected in this price range, but it's not grounded, so no 3-prong devices need apply.
