The GE 18257 Outdoor Light-Sensing Screw-In Socket has a built-in photo cell for automatically controlling your lights based on ambient light levels. General Electric's photo cell based lighting controls will automate your lighting in minutes. Photo-sensing lighting controls can save money on energy consumption by turning lights Off when they are not needed. Photo cells detect natural light to turn the attached load On when light levels are low or non-existent, and Off when light is detected. If a dusk/dawn operation is not desired the user can chose from two additional countdown settings. These settings are 1-hour or 6-hours. Besides energy savings this device can be very useful in automating commonly used lighting for pathways surrounding the home, any other outdoor security or perimeter lighting, and seasonal or holiday lighting. The 18257 can control outdoor bulbs up to 300 Watts.
