Essential Info
A 600kW 3-Phase EcoBuster™ from Energy Dynamics is designed for commercial use to help reduce the amount of electricity a building draws from the utility company. How can it do that? The EcoBuster's capacitors store electricity that has already been drawn which would otherwise be lost and then turns around to redistribute the stored electricity back to appliances when they need it. This causes a reduction in the amount of actual power drawn form the utility company and thus lowering an electric bill. Products with inductive motors such as air conditioning units, refrigerators, washers, dryers, and fans, are the largest culprits of lost electricity; the more of them running the more electricity that is being drawn and never used. Since you've already paid for that electricity, the EcoBuster is designed to make sure you get to use what you're actually paying for. Energy Dynamics estimates that the EcoBuster will typically pay for itself in electric bill savings in roughly 6-12 months. The EcoBuster will also protect against power line surges and spikes caused by internal wiring problems, loose connections and fluctuating demand from large motor appliances. It has a predicted lifespan of up to 20 years and it attaches to the building's main electrical panel.

Why are you just now hearing about this kind of product? Because up until recently it wasn't cost effective due to electric rates throughout America being roughly 2, 3 and 4 cents per kilowatt-hour. However, these rates have recently jumped to as much as 22 cents in certain areas, such as New York City, and even as much as 33 cents in Hawaii. With the more expensive rates per kilowatt-hour it is now makes sense to take measures towards saving the electricity that up until recently was not cost-effective to save.
