Essential Info
This Fail Safe Electric Deadbolt locks when power is applied and unlocks when power is removed. Heavy duty steel and aluminum construction. For even greater security, add an electric deadbolt. Drill a 1 3/8" diameter hole 3 1/2" deep in the door jamb or in the door itself to install. Heavy duty steel and aluminum construction. Requires a 12-volt DC, 900ma power supply (sold separately).

If the door can be opened when the power has failed to a door strike or deadbolt, we call this "Fail Safe." This means that people can come and go as needed when there is no power energizing a door. Fail Safe dead bolts are important on egress doors where people can be expected to leave a building during an emergency, such as a power outage.
Also available in a Fail Secure version.
