Essential Info

It's hard enough to fumble through a dozen keys to find the one that opens your front door; but doing so while holding your child or an armload of groceries can feel like a Herculean task. The Touchpad Deadbolt and Remote Control Handle Combo solves this problem in a number of ways. By replacing your standard deadbolt with this door lock, you'll have the choice to unlock the door with the press of a button on a keyfob remote that attaches to your key ring, via a customized code that has been programmed on the keypad, or if you so choose, you can still use a key. The keypad can even be temporarily lit in the dark to make punching in your secret code a breeze. This convenient lock is similar to those found in high-security applications in office buildings and institutional facilities yet can be easily installed at home by anyone who knows how to use a screwdriver. It has a heavy-duty, oil rubbed bronze finish and requires no drilling and no running of power cords. The unit uses four AA Batteries (sold separately), which provide enough power for 18,000 successful activations per set of batteries.

For the ultimate in convenience, integrate this lock as part of an INSTEON home control system with the MorningLinc - INSTEON Doorknob/Deadbolt Controller (sold separately).

    Remote Access
    You'll receive one remote control keyfob with this lock. It comes complete with anti-scan code-hopping technology. Additional features include distinct audible tones for locking, unlocking, jams, and low battery. Since it utilizes radio-frequency technology, you won't even need to aim the remote at the lock for it to release the lockset. Your entire family or small business can take advantage of the easy security of the RF Remote Door Knob, which accepts up to 15 different remote controls, sold separately.

    Keypad Access
    You set the entry codes yourself, the only people that will know the codes are the ones you give it to. Codes can be anywhere from 2 to 8 digits. You can program as many as six different entry codes, each of which can be added or deleted individually. This feature makes it easy to enter temporary codes for houseguests, maids or repairmen. Programming is a simple push-button process, and takes only minutes. And don't even think about anyone trying to figure out your code as each unit sounds a warning alarm after four failed attempts.

    Installation
    No wiring is involved in installation, and this keyless door lock will fit in most doors, since it comes with an adjustable backset (2 3/8" to 2 3/4").

    Ordered 2locks for both doors in house. While installing one of the locks, a wire brook on the keypad side of the lock. Called the company and within 2 days, a new part was shipped. Excellent service.

    it is the best on the market. Great product, but installation instructions need to be improved! Small pictures do not show clearly enough the orientation of parts. This is the second one I have installed and I am still trying to find the arrow they tell you must be up! Also, picture of back plate difficult to see which direction it goes. Maybe illustrations would be better than little pictures.Otherwise it would have been 5 stars.

    Super easy to install and looks great! The only complaint I could possibly have is that one day when it was below zero outside, the lock became too sluggish to open. It was not too big of a deal because the key still worked (and I had it on me). I am going to buy another one of these locks for my garage door since it works so well.

    The remote - which claims to work from 30 feet - works from 5 feet through metal doors even after installing rubber gasket per manufacturer. Does not always lock and unlock when using remote or keypad. Must check - always - to make sure door has locked. Cannot rely on remote to consistently lock door. Be careful. Not as easy to use or reliable as I might have thought, but the only other option is spending upwards of $250 for similar product.

    Worked perfectly; however the keypad interferred with the storm door's handle. Wish the profile was 1/4 inch flatter. Must move the latch and cover the holes in door and frame.

    The keypad and key work well. I gave the product 2 stars because the remote, which was the reason for buying this product, is completely undependable. It may fail when the remote is touching the lock, then work perfectly 5 minutes later. Calls to Customer Service have not given any help. I would not recommend this to anyone needing a remote locking device.

    Terrible. Cheap. Difficult to install. The wire connector between the two halves is too short and hard to connect. Deadbolt throw is too sensitive and undependable. I would not rely on this to lock remotely, you may come home to find your house unlocked when you thought it was locked.

    I chose this because the new 2-way options by Schlage don't actually lock/unlock the door - just a clutch; and the Kwikset ones aren't compatible with my Schlage key (I didn't want backup keys). As much as I'd love two-way feedback via Z-Wave, for the cost this couldn't be beat. Wife loves not having to get her keys out (she has a keyless car too) and the simplicity of one-touch locking on the way out is awesome - while one of us loads the kids, the other closes up the house. Lock works great - rarely sticks and when it does it's because the door isn't latched correctly (to be expected) - and it lets you know pretty loudly. Otherwise the motorized function works great. Range is a little low on the remotes, but that's likely my metal door combined with possibly low remote battery strength (haven't checked yet). The quality on them looks awesome - way better than Schlage actually - they're really nice looking locks.

    The overall value is absolute! The instructions for installation, even though we had previously installed one, can use some improvemnt. It was only after installing and uninstalling the lock on our front door 4 times that we realized that there was a button that determined if it was a left hand opening door or a right hand opening door. We have one of these locks on each the front door and the rear door. We also didn't know until after we received the locks and called they we should have requested that they be keyed the same. This option was not available or offered when I place our order online. If there is any way to receive two new locks that are keyed the same and we could return the current locks, it sure would be helpful. My father was so impressed with our locks that he too has ordered one for his house. All in all we are very HAPPY with our purchase.

    The Deadbolt is Great, however I did accidently order the wrong color, tried to exchange and was exlained the return policy and to return and would have to reorder. I sent the wrong deadbolts I ordered back to the company with RMA# and the package was sent back to me 3 weeks later. I am still having to battle the return. I have already remailed the package and have yet to hear anything about a refund. Product is Great, Service is not so.

    so far so good. Easy instalation. Seems solid but it has been used only for a month so far. Remote also only works within a 10 ft radius.
