Essential Info

Never look for keyholes in the dark again with this glow-in-the-dark touchpad lockset that locks or unlocks your door's deadbolt lock when you enter a customized code. This convenient touchpad system is similar to high-security applications found in office buildings and institutional facilities, yet can be easily installed at home by anyone who knows how to use a screwdriver. No drilling and no running of power cords is required for this Touchpad Lockset Deadbolt with brass finish. The unit uses four AA batteries (sold separately), which provide enough power for 18,000 successful activations.

What's Included

  • 1x - Touchpad Lockset Deadbolt - Brass PKF-01P
  • 2x - Keys
  • 1x - Instructions
  • More Info

You set the entry codes yourself — the only people that will know the codes are the ones you give it to. Codes can be anywhere from 2 to 8 digits. You can program as many as six different entry codes, each of which can be added or deleted individually. This feature makes it easy to enter temporary codes for houseguests, maids or repairmen. Programming is a simple push-button process, and takes only minutes.

The deadbolt is incredibly secure, built with a 6-pin, solid brass cylinder and a gear with clutch drive system to prevent wear-out. And don't even think about anyone trying to figure out your code — the door lock sounds a warning alarm after four failed attempts.

Two conventional keys are included for standard operation. The Touchpad Lockset Deadbolt is also available in nickel finish, antique brass and oiled bronze.

The value of this lock is excellent since this is the 2nd one I have purchased. The first one broke or wore out after 10 years on daily use. Installation was very easy since I was replacing a existing lock. I would like to have another lock at some point in time because they operate with ease.

I think that this product is a great one, and I'm using it for my home!

    JOHN A. -- glendora, CA   11/7/2009
I am satisfied with the product so far, but due to not feeling well, I have not installed it, so an overall rating would not be truthful.
    THOMAS -- potomac, MD   6/15/2009
I have three of these units in my house. After 3 years, one of them broke (mechanically). Smarthome honored the warranty and replaced it. I would buy these again. they have otherwise been flawless.
    Winston -- Houston   4/28/2009
Has worked flawlessly for 4 years. Glow in the dark buttons only glow if you shine a light on them for a few seconds...duh, if you have a flashlight u don't need the glowing buttons. Like putting salt on a birds tail to catch it. The screw that holds the back cover on does strip easily but cover fits snuggly on regardless.
    RICHARD -- charlottesville, VA   2/19/2009
    Easy to install. Reliable.
Benson -- salt lake city, Utah   11/18/2008
Have owned this lock going on 3 years now and it's great! I just change the batteries once a year regardless of charge left in them and its always been reliable.
    JAMES -- uniontown, OH   10/30/2008
Installed easily, I only had to get a bi-metal drill bit to go through my partially steel/wood garage door, otherwise everything else was easy to install. Works as advertised.
    CHARLES -- atco, NJ   10/26/2008
Basically a solid performer; 6 of us used it 24/7. This was a 2yr replacement as the latch stopped retracting fully.
TESS VAN -- huntington, WV   9/12/2008
very easy to install works perfectly
    MARK -- potomac, MD   7/14/2008
I like the product and intend to use it, however, to me the term deadbolt means a lock that cannot be operated manually from either side. Deadbolts are used in applications where there are breakable windows in the door, and prevents entry by simply breaking the glass and turning the handle from the inside. If this product were a true deadbolt, it would have no handle on the inside. It would only be operable with the key or with another touchpad on the inside. That said, it is no worse than the situation on other glass doors with no deadbolt, so I will use it. Furthermore, I'm a bit concerned that the small, fine threaded screw that holds the cover on (and which must be removed and replaced each time the touchpad is programmed) will eventually get lost or stripped and the cover will no longer go back on properly. If instructions for reprogramming are not provided on the inside of that cover, they should be.

This is the 2nd lock we purchase from SH, the first one is a deadbolt, we love it so much that I am getting this one for my office.
    Lawrence -- San Francisco   3/15/2008
This lock works well. Installed in place of old bolt/latch assembly without need to drill any additional holes or modifications. Only thing is there is a small gap on the top of the keypad and the door, so there is potential that water could seep in there and short the electronics board. I addressed this problem by applying some silicone caulking on top to make it waterproof.

Great Product.. Have been using this for the past 24 months.. Working great..
    WARREN -- verdi, NV   1/13/2008
Iam very happy with this item. Received on time and perfect shape.
    Tony -- birmingham, MI   1/6/2008
I do not recommend this product: 1.) It was very difficult to determine how to route the electrical cable inside the unit so that the unit would fit flush with the door while not pinching the cable or having the cable contact any moving parts. The instructions did not provide any guidance for routing of the cable. 2.) The mechanical feel of the lockset is not smooth 3.) The turning effort is too high for my 9 year old and even adults have trouble hands or gloves are slippery. 4.) After less than one year, the alarm would sound for about 5 seconds whenever the door was unlocked from the outside. SmartHome replaced the unit immediately without any shipping charges. 5.) The replacemnent unit exhibited problems 1 thru 4 above, even #4 that was the reason for returning the first unit! Disappointed, I gave up and decided to live with this annoying issue. 6.) After less than a year, the replacement unit began to require the combination to be entered twice to unlock from the outside. Also, the lock would occasionally bind up so that it could only be unlocked manually from the inside or from the outside with a key, which deafeats the purpose of a keypad lock! I have concluded that $100 does not buy a durable electrical keypad lock. I placed an order for 5186N38 Mechical entry lock. Hopefully this one will last!
