Well IR is like your tv remote and the lock only opens from the outside or the front of the lock not from the inside becuse there is no sensor there. other than that the lock works well. and we'll see how long the batteries last??

The only problem with the lock was that it was meant for a residential door, and I purchased it for a commercial door, not realizing it wouldn't be able to work.

I love my remote controlled deadbolt. The only suggestion I have is that the sensor be placed on both sides of the deadbolt so that it can be locked/unlocked with the remote control from the inside as well as the outside.
