My father is very hard of hearing. He can no longer hear the door bell, but his house is full of amplified phones with very loud ringers, so this does the trick. I was concerned that the clarity of the outdoor intercom unit might not be that good, but he has no problems at all understanding the person at the door. Now Meals-on-Wheels has no problems getting his attention to come to the door. This was the perfect answer for his situation. BTW -- installation was very easy, just be aware that it has to be installed upstream from all the phones in the house. Its ideal if you can install this near the network interface -- i.e. where the phone line comes into your house.

works perfectly, now we can stay in our backyard & answer our door with cordless phones. I used the door #2 connection instead of # 1, gives a better ringing differencial tone on the house phone. Love it.

I did not notice before ordering it required an 110 volt outlet near the black box. Also, I had to go to the net and google phone wire color codes so I could figure out which phone wires went where. The phone wires were like orange, blue white striped ect. not just red, black, green, and yellow that I was used to. I ordered with the door strike controller and everything works great! I used with Hess 5000 series strike. I also used the Hess smart pac II.

Item works great! Installation is COMPLICATED. It is a wonderful system, but you better know alot about your homes wiring or you will have difficulty.

Works great - sound quality is fine - I have realatively good technical skills and it took me about 45 minutes to hook up -- must be connected to the phone line, placed before other phones on the line I connected it directly to the phone company box. I had trouble finding my doorbell transformer (you use the transformer wire to connect to the existing doorbell wire). Eventually found it inside my electrical breaker box (6 year old home)
