    The Extra Door Intercom Station expands the 3-Channel Door Intercom System and communicates via existing AC wires and will block X10 signals during the period that the intercoms are being used. They will not affect X10 operation if they're plugged in but are not transmitting sound.

    The door intercom unit easily replaces your existing push-button doorbell using existing doorbell wiring.

    NOTE: Unit does not work on a GFI circuit.

    You can also use this extra door intercom station with the Wireless 3-Channel Intercom System or the Wireless 4-Channel Intercom System.

    This product is prone to line interference and can only use two channels (which you have to remove it from the wall to change). Even if your intercom stations have 4 channels, this unit can only use only "A" or "B" which limits your ability to bypass interference on your home wiring. If the unit is installed in a sunny location, the heat can also cause it create it's own static. Having said that, it does do a reasonable job and does allow you to find out who is at the door before opening it or to tell the person at the door that you will be there shortly if you are unable to get the door right away. It is a good start and even though it has been out for a few years, I hope they can improve upon it in the future.

    This item is not intended to be used out doors! If driving rain gets into the box, it will short out leaving the system useless. Only use this product if you have a completely enclosed entryway.

    Firstly there can be a lot of static. it works best at night when most of the electrical usage is at a minimum. However when the product was new, I had to disconnect the front door bell station in the middle of the night a few times. The static was so loud that we couldn't sleep (probably disurbed the neighbours too). It is not well thought out: 1)The channel buttons are not logical. They can all be pushed in at one time. This would be solved by allowing only one channel button to be pushed in. 2)The door bell station only works on channel A. So if we lock one of the stations so that we can hear the baby, the person standing at the door can hear the noise in that room too. 3) If we use channel B for the baby we have to change the station to channel B in the room we listen from. Then, we won't hear the door bell.
