This affordable surge protector is suitable for homes with main breaker panel capacities up to 400 amps. Designed for 120/240 volt single or split-phase service. Install this unit next to your breaker panel closest to where the electrical service enters your home. You will need two dedicated 15-amp circuit breakers available at a home improvement center.

Easy to install for me (amateur with considerable experience with electrical wiring). Arrived timely. Good price. Can't tell how well it works-- until there's a power fault which I survive while others don't. Hopefully that will never happen to anyone. But having this unit installed gives peace of mind.

Item came very quickly. It is not hard to install at all as long as you have some basic knowledge of the inside of your breaker panel. If the inside of your breaker panel looks like mission control to you...call an electrician, it's a 10 min job at the most.

If you have no need to flush mount this device in a finished wall, it should work fine. If you do have this need, you'll need a flush mounting plate from Intermatic that SmartHome doesn't sell, which was my situation. Ended up with the Leviton unit instead.

Pros: heavy duty surge protector is a definite cut above regular power bar grade material. easy to follow installation instructions. LED give unambiguous clue of the protection status. Cons: none

The price is right and the protection for a small home perfect. Very easy installation. Can do it yourself if you know where your nuetraul block is in your panel and turn off the service main to your home.
