Easy to install; will have to wait for surge to see how it works

We have a lot of terrible lightning storms in the summer. In 2006 lightning struck very near our house. There was an instantaneous flash/bang. Luckily we didn't have a direct hit. As it was it knocked out our doorbell transformer, our telephones and our irrigation controllers. We also have a lot of very expensive electronic equipment. I had the suppressor installed the day after I got it. The electrician thought it was a good buy too.

We haven't installed it yet.

So far a great product. Not sure if I will be able to test it out till a surge happens but my sales experience with smarthome is great. Product was as advertised.

Great product.

This is the third one of these I have purchased. One of them died in the line of action, saving my home from catching on fire. The other one continues to do its job in a rental building. The order was done swiftly and accurately.

This is intended to be mounted in a stud space adjacent to the main circuit breaker panel in a residence. It also could be surface mounted. It is supposed to be connected to two single pole 20a circuit breakers which are on different phases (every other row of breakers are alternating phases in most residential panels). The instructions say that it can be connected to existing breakers, paralleling exising loads. I chose to add two new breakers specifically for the surge arrestor. The unit was as advertized and the price was the best I found. Shipping was fast also. Whether it protects against voltage surges, It's hard to prove a negative. Leviton is a venerable and respected brand so I hope it will do its job.
