Essential Info

For large, complex X10 installations where it may be necessary to use more than one amplifier, this Amplified Coupler-Repeater can be set to ignore previously amplified and repeated signals and only repeat/amplify original X10 signals. This prevents signal collisions that can reduce signal strength when multiple amplifiers are used. This Amplified Coupler-Repeater has DIP switches that enable the user to customize their operation depending on the application. The beige-painted enclosure is designed to mount on a 4 11/16" x 4 11/16" (double-gang) electrical box. LEDs in the cover indicate programming and operational modes. Incoming signals as weak as 25mV can be detected and repeated on all phases of power. Use this Amplified Coupler-Repeater in installations where there are two 120V lines. This is called single-phase service or split-single phase service and is commonly found in single-family homes.

    When the XPCR Couplers I purchased failed I decided to try the CR234 even though it was more expensive. It worked immediately and my signals that cross over to the other bus work every time. Great, dependable product. The electrical box that fit it was a challenge to find (take the CR234 to the store with you) and it only fits one type.

    I haven't installed this unit yet as I had to contact the manufacturer to answer a question I had, but this is the second coupler/repeater I have from that manufacturer, and I expect it will perform as well as the first one.

    Worked better than my Leviton coupler repeater but this 'Homepro' device does not fit into a standard box. It's temporarily nailed to the rafters in my basement. It HAS helped my X10 system work better. It just needs to fit into something to be permanenly mounted.

    After having a disappointing meltdown of the model CR-230 after only 2 years, I decided to try the CR-234. So far, it performs very well and has superior features.

    Remarkably dissapointing product. Prior to installation, system was 80% reliable. Afterward, system was pretty much ZERO. Tried all possible settings. Returned product for refund. Passive coupler works much better. May try the Smarthome coupler/repeater to see if it works better.

    Very please with this product. Increased X10 signal strength from 500 mV to over 3.5 volts. Also boosted signal in a remote building over 300 away from the repeater. I would definitely recommend this unit.

    Does exactly what is says it will do. But, expensive and I still have some odd problems with X10 in the house, but they may not be because of the coupler.

    This is the 6th or 7th active repeater I have installed. While it works for the most part I am now having random lights turning on. My Homeseer has no record in the log of the x10 command for the light that went on so at this point it appears to me the repeater is sending garbled messages at times. I'm fed up with the over 100 x-10 devices in my house. I plan to experiment with zwave in the future to see it it makes sence to junk all the x10.

    Was able to connect the unit in parallel with the dryer 220V socket. X=10 new works reliably on every outlet throughout the house - even with the dryer operating. Excellent value. Using with Leviton 6325 telephone responders between our U.K and U.S. homes for extensive remote control.

    Tried to make this work forever but I have now finally given up. Was never able to get it to work perfectly. There are long random streaks when all this thing does is detect errors and lock up: no matter what the settings. I've also updated my setup, upgraded the wiring, put filters on troublesome appliances.. nothing works. I used to have another coupler on my dryer plug that worked much better than this. It got fried so I had to replace it and ended up buying this product... I'm very disappointed and can do nothing but strongly discourage buying this coupler/repeater.
