The free-standing Black Patio Heater has a propane-powered heater in its center to direct warmth where you need it most (unlike standard "mushroom-style" heaters, which direct their heat too high). The Black Patio Heater's sturdy base houses a 20-pound propane tank (sold separately), just like the ones you use in your grill. A single propane cylinder can heat a 12- to 15-foot circle for up to 12 hours!
