What Size Bulb Do You Need?Here's a good rule of thumb for selecting a compact fluorescent bulb: Divide the wattage of your desired incandescent bulb by 4 to determine the approximate wattage of compact fluorescent lamp that will provide similar light output. Compact fluorescent bulbs are also available in a 13-watt version (comparable to a 60-watt incandescent bulb) and a 23-watt version (comparable to a 100-watt incandescent bulb).
