The Monster Uninterruptible Power Supply is more than a surge suppressor. Even when the power is on, connected components receive balanced power, thanks to its Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR). When the UPS is active, AVR senses voltage sags or a voltage overload, it automatically engages to stabilize power levels to prevent damage and compromised system performance that may occur from voltage fluctuations. This UPS battery actually ensures that the voltage your home theater components receive does not exceed or fall below safe levels.
Monster CoolDown™ technology is designed to cool down expensive DLP, rear projection, and projection TVs bulbs during power outages. When a blackout occurs, the Monster Uninterruptible Power Supply immediately provides battery backup power to attached components. Monster CoolDown technology then automatically turns off the projection TV bulb, puts the TV in standby mode, and provides power to the fan to cool the bulb.
This UPS battery system can actually learn the AC power draw of the attached devices and will use this information as a reference for future operations. You can also teach the UPS the IR remote control sequence for powering down each attached device.
The Real Value of a UPSIn spite of its name, an Uninterruptible Power Supply is not intended for you to continue watching The Sopranos during a blackout. While it will continue to operate your home theater setup through all the transients of the power grid, it doesn't have enough capacity for hours of operation.
