Essential Info

Enjoy flexible, easy control of a customized home lighting network with the Leviton DHC Controller. This wall-mounted controllers fits into standard wallboxes and replaces a regular switch to provide remote ON/OFF switching, dimming and scene lighting control. Best of all, is uses the existing wiring that's already in your home (120V AC 60Hz) to add multi-location switching without a complicated and costly re-wiring process. This One-Address ON/OFF Wall Mounted Switch Controller with 2-Way Communication features one ON/OFF rocker that transmits ON/OFF commands to one address. Illuminated green LED at bottom of face indicates unit is On.

The Leviton DHC Controller transmits X10/PLC signals that can turn lights ON or OFF, DIM or BRIGHTEN lighting, select lighting macros, or turn ALL LIGHTS ON or OFF. Plus, two-way communication permits each unit to display a change of status (when a controlled 2-way device is controlled locally). The unit is UL Listed (File #E-66800), CSA Certified (File #LR-54628) and UL 244A Tested, and is backed by a limited two-year manufacturer warranty. Up to four DHC controllers can be wired into a single branch circuit. Since this wall-mounted controller is primarily transmitters of X10 signals, it does not have the ability to directly control a load. If you are replacing an existing switch (mechanical or X10) with a wall-mounted controller, you will need a X10 receiver to do the switching of the load formerly controlled by the switch. We suggest using plug-in modules (for locations where the switch controlled an outlet). This Leviton DHC Controller is not compatible with any Smarthome Design products it will only work only with other Leviton DHC products.

Product works exactly as advertised. I used it to replace a switch in an existing X-10 setup with no issues. I have since started switching over to Insteon Dual-Band products and am completely blown away by the improved flexibility and reliability. For example, the SwitchLinc2 can replicate the HXC10 (Send X-10 commands), while also being able to directly control a load, respond to X-10 commands, activate scenes, etc..., all at a cheaper price. Admittedly, the toggle button feels less "Natural," but it's not a major factor for me. Sorry to be off topic, but I was under the mistaken impression that I had to stick with a direct X-10 replacement or else scrap the whole setup. I couldn't be happier that I was wrong.

Works great, easy to install. A bit expencive.

Used in conjunction with the "Leviton Fixture Relay 15A Resistive Or Inductive Load" (Item # 2250) to turn on and off a Steinel FL300W Floodlight from a second story. It works flawlessly. However, this switch does not toggle to on or off positions like a standard Decora rocker switch. Instead, it stays in a neutral position before and after it is depressed. A small green light displays whether or not the receiving module is on or off. This unit is expensive.

Not sure yet! Alot of noise on the line. Need to try again after installing noise filter.

This is a great item. I wish it weren't so expensive, though, and I really wish there were a simple 2-address controller in the same style (like a two-switch Decora switch).
    F T -- l0s altos, CA   9/29/2005
    Worked as advertised
    FRANK -- fairfield, OH   4/12/2005
Worked as advertised. Smarthome has a good selection of X-10 products others don't carry.
