Overview

  • Sends motion activated signals to 4 X10 addresses
  • Sends dusk activated signals to 4 X10 addresses
  • Turn on lights all over your home when motion is detected in one area
  • Use with a chime module as an automatic doorbell

Essential Info

X10 Motion Detector Floodlight detects motion and turns on when dark. The sensor also sends X10 signals to 8 addresses. The first 4 addresses can be set to go on when motion is detected and off after an adjustable time interval. The second 4 addresses can be set to turn on the X10 floodlights when it's dark and then turn them off at dawn. The X10 Motion Detector Floodlight photocell with adjustable sensitivity detects light level. The adjustable passive infrared sensor with 110° coverage detects motion within a 40 foot range. Requires two 150 watt incandescent, fluorescent, or halogen floodlight bulbs (sold separately).

What's Included

  • 1x - X10 Motion Detector Floodlights
  • More Info

Adjust the X10 Motion Detector Floodlight settings for time delay and sensitivity to exactly fit your needs. Set the length of time that the X10 Motion Detector Floodlights stay on after movement has stopped and no further motion has been detected to anywhere between 6 seconds to 30 minutes. These motion detecting floodlights can be used to control virtually any load up to 500 watts with the use of the appropriate lighting fixtures. The floodlights use a mechanical relay much like an appliance module so the module is compatible with virtually any kind of light bulb (not included).

For easy addressing, insert an X10 Code Clicker (sold separately) into the dial wheel.

The sensor automatically senses motion over a wide area (110°) at a distance of up to 40 feet. In addition to turning on dual floodlights when it senses motion, the X10 motion detector module can turn on up to 4 X10 modules (light or appliance) in or around your home based on motion or at dusk and then off again at dawn.

You can turn on the floodlights manually using any X10 controller (such as a keychain remote or wireless switch) with an X10 transceiver or security system base receiver. When turned on manually, the floodlights stay on and the motion detection is temporarily disabled until the floodlights are turned off from an X10 transmitter. The built-in photocell prevents operation during daylight hours and senses when to turn on and off lights for dusk-to-dawn operation. The X10 floodlights can be used with the EagleEye outdoor motion sensor and a transceiver to expand its motion sensor's field of view to farther areas. You can even use the X10 Motion Detector Floodlights with a chime module so that it functions as an automatic doorbell. If you want to turn on every light with the same X10 address, install the Leviton X10 Motion Detector instead.

The completely weatherproof module features a hidden control panel and a gray finish.

Automated Floodlights In Four Simple Steps

    1. Turn off the correct circuit breaker for the light you want to replace2. Remove the current lighting fixture, make a note of which wire is the ground and which is the power

    3. Match the ground and the power wires and connect them with the included screw caps4. Attach the X10 Outdoor Lighting fixture to your structure, and you're done!

The weather-proof X10 Dual Floodlight has a built-in Motion Detector, which will turn on the floodlights at the hint of motion. Set it in dusk/dawn mode, adjust the detection range, adjust the timed delay before the lights turn off again and more from the hidden control panel. This floodlight can even turn on up to four additional X10-enabled lights when motion is detected!

My first unit lasted under five years. I have had my second unit for about fifteen years and it still works fine. Over that fifteen year period the unit has stopped working about three or four times. All I did was power cycle the breaker for that circuit, to reboot the PR511, and it started working fine again. Considering that it sits outside in Canada, under the roof overhang, for over a decade, I'd say this unit is very reliable. Even getting five years from the first unit isn't poor value when you amortize the cost over that time. I've been told that it has been discontinued, which I hope is not true, as I'd like to recommend to my Masonic lodge that we replace our manual timer-based unit with one of these.

I have had three of the PHS01 lights for about 18 months. The first failed to function after about 60 days and now at 18 months the last of the three have failed. Alot of money for a poor product

Is an excellent light and helps control inside lights turning them on and off at sunset and sunrise as needed.

THIS UNIT WAS A REPLACEMENT FOR A UNIT THAT WAS 7 YEARS OLD AND STOPPED WORKING CORRECTLY. PROBLEM: I HAVE PURCHASED AND THROWN AWAY A TOTAL OF 3 BOOSTER LINK MODULES. EACH ONE WENT BAD AFTER A YEAR OR TWO BY CAUSING ERATIC AND INCORRECT SIGNALS PROBLEM: I HAD TO DEACTIVE AN X-10 SWITCH MODULE BECAUSE AFTER ONLY 2 YEARS OF USE, IT WOULD NOT TURN ON WITH THE SIGNAL FROM MY MINI-TIMER. SO... I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH X+-10 LONGEVITY. JAMES T. CONKLIN, PLE.

One of the five lights had a broken inner bulb holder. I am trying to find one locally to repair.

This is my 3rd Motion Flood light. They seem to last about 2-3 years then intermittently fail to turn-on or turn-off. After being replaced it works again until next failure. I'm guessing the electrolytic capacitors are failing from age and outdoor temperature changes.
    ROBERT -- atco, NJ   11/19/2011
I have been using these for 20 years. With the modules, they turn on my Christmas window decorations at night, my low voltage lighting at night, and my porch lights when someone walk on my driveway.
    FarmerBob -- Littleton   11/15/2011
I have had these on my house for years. They activate crossed zones of other lighting when tripped. The neighbors call it the Prison when they get tripped. I call it protection. But you can get them from X10.com for around $20. Not too long ago got 6 sets for under $100.
    NORMAN -- anderson, IN   10/7/2011
I like it. Cheap way to know if somebody is around your home.
    CRAIG -- kailua, HI   9/21/2011
So far these motion lights are working great. I'm already telling my family and friends about it for their homes. This is another great product and experience I've had from Smarthome.
    MICHAEL -- racine, WI   9/2/2011
I already have three of these on my house and I bought this one as a backup. They are pretty complex because they have a lot of features to control other X10 devices.
RICHARD -- little rock, AR   7/26/2011
I tried to buy these when Radio Shack quit selling them. I like being able to activate other floodlights. The sensitivity is not as good as other motion detectors but they work.
    LAWRENCE -- guffey, CO   6/16/2011
All I needed was the motion detector but I had to buy the whole assembly to get it.
    JA -- huizen, XX   3/18/2011
We do know this item for many years in The Netherlands. It is no longer available so I bought it with you. Unfortunately the unit is made for 110V and 60HZ. We in Europe have 230V and 50 Hz.
Doug -- elk mountain, PA   3/3/2011
I put four of these on my new house in January of 2005. Two now don't work correctly. They both stay ON all the time. Good while they lasted. I wish they lasted longer. I will replace these two with two more. Hope they last longer.
    T -- boise, ID   2/9/2011
Good product. The house and start code dials set the code that other units use to send signals to the lights. The switches add numbers to this setting to create a new code that is used to send signals to activate external units. Got it?
    STEVEN -- cypress, TX   1/30/2011
I ordred 5 of the same lights. Got 5 lights but two were a bit different looked like the same light but different packing and the instructions were missing from those two and the wires were different color. But over all they all worked and I got it up and working since I have worked with electricity before.
RICHARD -- upper saddle river, NJ   1/3/2011
Product fine, price somewhat higher than other outlets---however, I need your catalog, please.
    CRAIG -- coatesville, PA   9/24/2010
I have 3 of these around the house. Replaced the first last year at 5 yrs. and this is the second reeplacement at 6 yrs. Both are probably the most used. Third one still works good no problems. Will buy again and recommend.
JACK -- gig harbor, WA   9/21/2010
Great product, can be placed anywhere and W/O it's lights to activate any light anywhere on the house grid. I've used one to silently surveil an area by installing it on a board in a tree and running an extension cord to it. Impressive what it can do. I have 3 of them now and a 4th at my daughter's home.
